So after receiveing the Asus ATI HD 4890 Super ML CAP / Twin Fan 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card from a competitor , i am going to review it.
The 4890 is ATI'S current best performing Single GPU card out there. This one has - GPU @ 850MHz - 1024MB GDDR5 Memory @ 3900MHz.
Now let's take a look at the packaging. As with most asus products, it comes in a huge box, packaged very well. Comparing this to the powercolor version, the box is huge.
With it comes the following:
-DVI To VGA Adapter
-DVI To HDMI Adaptop
-Molex to 8 pin Splitter
-Audio Cables
-Crossfire Bridge
-Quick Setup Guide
-Driver Disc
The card itself is stunning. One of the best looking cards I have seen.
Just to put it into perpective, here's the beast in the flesh against my old 8400GS it will be replacing:
Here's the card side on:
The card is immense. It's housed in a black shell with red fans. I have to say these fans are the most silent I have heard on a graphics card to date. Yet. cooling it more effectively.
The card requires a 8 pin and 6 pin PCI-E cable. Be sure to check that your case is big enough, this only justy squeezes into My Sonata III.
The main feature of this card is the dual fan design, effectively cooling the card. At the moment the card is
ideleing at 37 degrees with fan set to around 70%, which is next to silent. By default the fan was at 15% idling at 47 degrees. Here we can see the
significant tempreature differnce between the standard 4890's and the Super ML CAP / Twin Fan version. There are six 230mm heat pipes on this card.
I currentely haven't had the chance to overclock this thing, but the competitors say in the specification they have managed to get it to 990 MHZ and 4400 MHZ stable.
Here's a graph I have found showing just how much this potential this has for overclocking:
This card has a year varraty and a voltage tweak system, allowing further overclocks without voiding the warranty.
Here's the Super ML cap:
Overall, I conclude this card is the one to get if your in the market for a high end card. It clearly outperforms a GTX 275 in benchmarks and costs around the same as the reference designs. This card is quiet and cool and one of the most overclockable to date
Don't hesitate buying this, it's well worth the money.
