Evening all,

Been reading the threads and was hoping some knowledgeable people could show me the light.

Kind of lost track of the ever changinng graphic cards landscape in the last year or so, I now find myself needing a new one or 2 (v tempted to x fire them) to go with the new lp2475w monitor.

Which is better the Asus or XFX:-

or

The 3rd option:- should I wait for the Vapour X.

All advice would be very gratefully recieved

asus people seem to have problems with XFX.

and asus has a overclock freindly warrenty (if you use thier software)

yeah, some people don't some do, just one of those things
I have sapphire which is a lot like the asus cards (temptation to flash to asus BIOS) ;)

Thanks for the replies.

Going through other threads noticed that there is an impending 4890 2gb DDR5 card launch happening soon/ or happened. Anyone heard or know any more about it, when it might be stocked ? Will it be better than 2 1GB cards etc?

Already launched, I ordered one yesterday

I would recommend one with the Vapor-X cooler if you want a quieter fan. Also clocks better apparently.

Both my xfx's have been fine apart from cap noises on one of them (very rare) and the stock cooler sucks cause its too loud, fixed the stock cooler issue with water, cap noise is so rare it doesn't bother me and i cba to take my cards apart to RMA.

cap noise is going to happen.

HD4890s are known for being like jets at take off :\

Asus Refrence 4890s without a doult best 4890s out there.

1000/1150 im running my 2 at in xfire.

- ML cap versions are gimik versions. they all have the performance to hit 1k core if there built to do so.

meaning if they dont have weak cores.

+ refrence asus has better fans than xfx. i have had them all before xfx pcolor asus
and asus are definatly the better brand and card.

I would be interested in how the memory overclocks on that. Sometimes, not all of the time, extra VRAM comes at the expense of slightly limited ocing ability (just the VRAM not the GPU) :)

If you can match ViRuS2k's 1000gpu 1150vram then that would be great!
