Here are some pics of my new car (bends over awaiting roasting for buying new Golf)

How obvious do you want to make it that you've obviously never driven any BMW or Audi?

How obvious do you want to make it that you drive a BMW? :p

Admittedly i've not driven a lot of cars but then I wouldn't go on that.

You're going to roast me and cremate me for saying this, but I prefer the looks of the Golf to any 1,3, or 5 series BMW. Just personal perference. I'm not saying they're bad cars, certainly if given one i'd not turn it down. I just prefer the Golf.

Have you seen the Audi a3 1.4tsi? It is exactly the same car as his bur with an audi shell, which gives premium ergenomics over the golf, so in effect, you're saying you wouldn't drive the golf either?

Yeah, i'm going more on looks. It's a lot closer to an A3 as I really like the look of them - but i'd still go for the Golf on looks, sadly.

Yes, your right, im just not at all a fan of bmw. I just dont like the look or feel of their cars, but i do like their engines. This is the whole idea of motoring forums, no? Shall i keep my opininon to myself like 0% of you do so well? Im just saying whats on my mind, o and yes i am in an anti bmw mood after bein cut up by one of the many cocks that drive them. (in no way am i calling ALL bmw drivers cocks)

The person cut you up. Not BMW as a collective.

"I SHALL NOT BY BMW COZ 1 CUT ME UP DIS MORNIN LOL"

Admittedly I think more than 90% of Audi drivers are cocks! :p

Wez, not you. :p

You only have to spend 10 minutes or so on one of our motorways and I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone in an Audi A4 (usually a 2 litre diesel I might add) trying to enter your exhaust pipe, no matter how fast you are going :p ...strange phenomenon really. Still, I suppose it's better than looking at a Vectra in your rear view mirror.

oneale90: Would you mind either taking the time to read what you have actually written before you post it, or at least allow Word to have a go at it, your lack of grammar makes me wince.

Well, in the year or so i've had my licence, i've only ever once lost my temper and left my car, and that was at an A3 driver. In my defence, he started it! :p

I've also had A3, A4, and A8 drivers tailgating me for miles, often blowing horns, flashing their lights, or generally being *****.

They're only marginally worse though than 5 series driver, Passat driver, and Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag driver. :D

To be fair I have been known to give middle lane morons a bit of a hard time myself, full beam and a couple of hand gestures usually does the trick.

What's the deal about the money. If someone can afford to splash out £17k outright on a brand new Golf the chances are they're not really going to care a great deal about being thrifty or the used car market, especially if they have no need for something more powerful which incurs higher insurance costs, warranty, reliability problems etc. Stop thinking in terms of opportunity cost when a lot of buyers really couldn't care less that they could have had something "better" for the same money. For the record though I personally would have gone 2nd hand :D

I've also test driven the new 1.4 TSI Golf and having driven a 1.4 FSI MK5 for 3 years prior it is like going from McDonalds to a posh restaurant.

He's already mentioned low tax and fuel economy as a reason for his decision.

So the only factor in your £17k purchasing decision would be how the car looks from the outside? How bizarre.

I've been noticing most if not all of your opinions are based on how a car looks rather than how it drives, how its built, what levels of equipment it offers, what its like inside, what it costs to run, how reliable it is, etc etc. How many cars have you ever driven?

Motors Rules:

1) Never post on OcUK stating you've bought a car from Carcraft.
2) Never post on OcUK stating you've bought a brand new car from a dealer.

I could probably count them on both hands, but then again why would I buy a car I don't like the look of?

I've fixed that, but for you instead.
