Can I request to speak to an English person?

I tend to cancel my accounts with anyong with foreign call centres, had far too many problems dealing with them because they don't understand or care to deal with any non-standard requests.

We spent 6 months trying to get a new PIN for my M&S credit card, they couldn't understand that when they sent out a new PIN, the box where the PIN should have been was completely blank. Everytime we called they ignored the fact it was blank and sent out a new, blank PIN. Oddly when my fiancee requested one, she had a PIN printed properly.

Since then, the instant I've called and had any problems with the call centre, I've called back and canceled - this was the case with 3 mobile which incidentally took me 55 minutes to cancel my account, felt like I was speaking to Fonejacker.

Some are very good, but most I've found to be very frustrating to deal with. Having said that Sky are just as bad and they're mostly based in Livingston, Scotland and have the same accent as me!

your meant too ask for someone whos 1st language is english

asking or for an english person can be seen as racist. also you might end up talking to a scouser

I wish call centres would stop employing people from ***** holes like the North and Wales where they can't speak properly, is a right PITA at times

In the supermarket I always go to the till with the white person, even if the line is longer. The once I just bought a tin of pork dog food and I went to the till with the muslim women with the thing on her head.

And you called me racist...

;)

Good on you Phate for asking... People should just stop being so over sensitive: these days everyone wants to be wrapped up in cotton wool from la-la land and sit and eat fairy dust together.
Nanny state and two men wearing Red have caused this all.

There is no harm in asking as it's your right as the consumer to do so as long as you do so in a calm and polite manner and not with the intention of causing insult.

"I'm terribly sorry but I'm having difficult understanding you... could I please talk to your supervisor".

"Put me through to an English person".

One is right.

The person did have a thick accent, but the accent annoys me and winds me up so I wanted an English accent. In this case it was someone from oop norf!
When they came on the phone you should have said you can't understand northerners very well and can you put a southerner on please! :p

I hate it when I get an english person on the phone, come on people is it to much to ask that you know how to spell Llanelli, Clydach, Castell Nedd!!!!! :p

wow

Just for a minute then i thought i'd been transported back in time and wasn't living in the 21st century.

Oversees call centres annoy me intensely. Mainly because of the ammunication barrier, but also although i understand why firm's do it (profit) i'm still pig headed enough to want to keep employment in the uk.

Some of the comments here are well past good taste and clearly wrong. Yes racism is wrong. It's little wonder the Bnp is thriving in this country.
