Watercooling for under £100?

Currently running a thermalright ultra ultima heatsink with a 92mm 56cfm (40 odd dba?) fan and thinking of maybe moving to a watercooling setup in a silverstone fortress ft01 case

Is it feasible to get a good watercooling setup for under £100? Having had a quick look the only true options (all inclusive of bits needed at that price) seem to be kits like the corsair hydro or the coolit domino and neither seem to offer significantly better performance than what I have already

I guess the (provisional) budget of £100 could rise a bit (if performance gain justified) - this would all have to fit inside the case btw - would be looking at overclocking the cpu further (currently an e6750 - maybe an e8400 soon) and preferably factor in relatively silent running

Thanks :D

The Corsair is the only kit worth bothering with, but as you have mentioned it wouldn't really offer you better cooling. For something like £125 you could get a nice setup.

120.2 radiator, bay res with pump, and a cpu block easily. This depending on rad choice (Thermochill or the RX series rads) would offer much better temps over your existing TRUE and the Corsair.

I would have a look ata the Coolit Domoino, quite impressive for the money.
I have looked through some reviews of it though and have yet to see any that would show that it would beat a thermalright ultra by much - I cant justify paying £70-80 to simply match or at best only slightly improve cooling performance

I would try and buy some second hand stuff mate, its a pitty you can't access the market yet as there are some good deals on there. I am going to be selling my CPU, GFX and Chipset blocks soon and they would make a great first build for you. Otherwise if your not wanting second hand go for what these guys suggest.

You can access the MM with just 4 more posts (100 needed as youve been a member for quite a while) and I'd definately recommend seeing what you can get in there! Everything In my cooling loops is second hand apart from the fans and rad. Can save loads on blocks, pumps, res's etc!

as others have said get on MM, always bits and bobs for sale on there and grab yourself a bargain.

Don't bother with Corsair Hydro H50 as I had try it as it lot worse than my air cooler as i7 4.2GHz temperature soared to 99.7C in temperature. Went back to air cooler as it sit comfortable at 75C. Never go back to Corsair Hydro H50 ever again, just sold it off on ebay.

to answer your question, no
decent WC kit cant be had for £100, plain as
decent WC kit thats going to cool better and be quieter than top end AC is going to be at least £250 if not quite a bit more. Unless you do manage to get a few steals on the MM. Have a read of this

Soon I'll be selling few parts from my loop.
XSPC 400 pump with res
Swiftech 240 rad
XSPC 120 rad
Delta V3 CPU block

If you are interested give me a shout.
It is very quiet - u can't hear the pump, and it doing decent job.

BTW for £150 you can buy Brand new parts for WC loop - much better than any Coolermaster ot Thermaltake

Thanks for the links people - will look into prices of second hand kit else guess ill stick with air cooling for the time being

Is it 100 posts for MM? Perhaps it updates overnight or something as I can't see any such forum and have tried re-logging in

It should be granted within 24hours, if it isn't email a mod and they'll sort it :)

Edit:- it's 250 posts for MM, I thought the 100 posts was for free shipping.

Better mail a mod to check.

Can I ask why you are selling? Seems odd to me people would jump back to air cooling and surely a system upgrade would only require a change in cpu block

But that means draining the loop etc, he might just be re0hauling his WC loop for newer bits. I've nearly gone back to air from WC, leaking blocks etc can drive you insane! :(

I'm selling due to upgrade.
If you will go to the Watercooling case galery you can see loop wich I'm selling.
Soon you will see the new one :)

As said it can be done with 2nd hand prices.

I got the following for £60

4 x 120mm xilence fans
1 x Swiftech mirco res
1 x D-tek fuzion 775 block
1 x Swiftech 240mm radiator
1 x d5 laing pump

I bought some feser and some new 7/16" tubing and was sorted.

Since then I have upgraded the cpu block to a xspc 3 for the cost of £10 and swapped the fans for San Ace (no cost) and bought a full water cover block for the GTX260 for £45.

Total spend now about £135 and that's the cpu and gpu both cooled with highend(ish) watercooling :D

Agree with Greebo and other - £100 for a secondhand cpu watercooling loop is possable.
Might have to wait a few weeks for all the parts to be available, and cleaning are only down sides

My first loop was a zalman reservator2 - complete with cpu and gpu blocks.
Cost me £90 and prefect for a very quiet, light gaming/cad pc.

People seem to be overlooking the obvious if u ask me.

Yes its about the same performance of high end air, but is a lot more upgradeable then the corsiar or domino.

Only thing i would change in that kit is the crappy tubing, and the plastic clips.

Im currently using this kit and it keeps my cpu nice and cool, even when i have my cpu over 4ghz too.

Its also ideal for people new to water cooling too, why waste £200-400 then mess up, get used to water then go for performance stuff.

Im slowly upgrading my kit, by getting bigger radiators and such but iv learnt a lot from using this kit..
