Family of 15 .. and want more..

Although I don't completely agree with it, the kids do all look healthy and well cared for, so I don't see a problem really. But damn, the woman must have spent most of her life pregnant - forget that!!

Aye if the family is well cared for its all goooodd...

Some of you guys are nasty!

I'm the 8th of 9 children in my family. Yes my parents are religious (my dad joked and said he was going to write to the pope suggesting that maybe the catholic method of contraception doesn't work), and no were not scroungers. I love having a large family and wouldn't change it for anything.

Serious question?

When you go to bed do you all say good night ala the Waltons?

I'd like to have more siblings if I'm honest.

Nah. My family is a little different than the one in the article as there's a 21 year age difference between eldest and youngest, so when I was growing up my older brothers were off at university etc.

Knowing that your parents are still at it when you're 21 must be slightly mortifying :o I like to think mine stopped after I was born :D

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those are sets of twins. A few of them look similar heights. The article doesn't go into much detail so it's hard to say what they are like as a family. The programme would be interesting to see though.

I'm the youngest of 6 kids and my mum is from a family of 9 and dad from a family of 14 kids. I love having a large family and don't see why I wouldn't have a large family myself. As long as you can afford to support them financially it's just a case of each to their own really.

Every person has to have their own choice and freewill, however, civilised society puts pressures on individuals to conform when it believes things are not for the overall good of the race.

As a species, we are over-populating the planet. Normal culling procedures that nature normally puts in place, on the whole, don't work with us. It's not likely a child born in the civilised west will die, its likely it will live.

I don't propose we should enforce the number of children one couple can have, nobody has that right, what I do believe is that the fact our planet simply cannot support as many humans as families like that produce, should be hammered home as often as possible.

They really have no clue do they, nature gives all reproducing animals a perogative to do it as often as possible in order that their DNA gets passed on and their lineage survives. When children usually died during child birth and the ones that didn't had a lifespan of around 30 years, this was fine, we NEEDED large familes. However in under 100 years we have effectively tripled the average lifespan of people in western societies as well as bringing infant mortality down to negligable levels. They have 15 kids not because of God, but because they are following their genetic programming without a thought as to why it's no longer appropriate.

15 children is simply too many in this day and age, they need to excercise restraint or understand that using a small piece of rubber to stop conception is not evil.
