I have always called them I.D. but I was looking on the website for Wolfenstein and found this :

id - Defined by Freud as the primal section of the human psyche; id Software, located in Mesquite, Texas, was founded in 1991. From inception to present day, id Software has relentlessly provided technical, design and artistic leadership as an independent game developer and technology provider. Transcending the games industry, id's iconic brands such as Wolfenstein, DOOM, QUAKE and Enemy Territory have become staples of popular culture for generations of gamers. More information on id Software can be found at www.idsoftware.com.

So is it in fact id software rather than I.D. software?

Always called them "I.D Software"... even though it's "id" i'll probably just still call them I.D, too set in my ways :P

I have aways said i.d rather than id and if I remember correctly on the flash screen before starting Quake 2 or 3. id is stamped out as i (with a pause) d. Which is where I think I got i.d from and I never heard of them being called id always i.d. It most have been a misconception that id has run with rather than correct. What game are they working on now?
