I've always thought using a aftermarket cooler on a Gfx card voids the warranty but ive just read somewere that it doesn't with some brands.

Can anyone clarify this, i currenty have a XFX gtx275.

hmmm
why not just put the stock cooler back on when the card fails?

obviously it has to be put back on properly, with all the screws and gubbings

Depends where you buy. Nearly all manufactures have region based warranty system. In the UK most feel we are not to be trusted with a screw driver.

You can find enthusiast shops that cover modifications under warranty.
