Are my Temps ok, im a bit concerned with the idle temps which are

52c,49c,50c,47c idle.

83c,80c,78,74c load.

ambient is about 25c.

my setup is
i7 920 D0 @4ghz 1.268vcore
6GB patriot 1600
Gigabyte x58 UD5
Coolermaster Cosmos case
Titan fenrir with akasa apache in push pull.
Ati 4890.
2x 750Gb Hdd
Coolermaster M850 PSU

is it worth getting a corsair H50 watercooler to replace the Titan Fenrir, would this reduce my idle temps.

Your idle temps are a little bit high. You enabled Speedstep? That will help reduce your temps. Your load temps are fine.

Not worth getting water unless you're getting a decent kit, it will help lower your overall temps.

I would resit your HSF tbh, the temps does seem slightly off.

I've reseated the HSF, there is no problem with that. Load temps are ok, speedstep makes no diffference at all to the idle temps. even with 3.2ghz OC the idles are hovering around the 46c-48c range with 65c load. I was just wondering with the corsair, whether it would lower the idle temps or is it worth getting a different case with better airflow. the corsair is cheaper and would allow me to get 12gb of ram.

your only getting a 20 delta from idle thats good going on air, whats your ambient temp ?i would expect your idle temps to be at least 15 degrees above ambient!!

my ambient room temp is 26c, but i have these temps with abient room temps in the 23c-27c range. Im worried that running my i7 with those idle temps will damage it over time.

I had now removed Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste and re-apply new MX-2 thermal paste with a very thin layer on the cpu processor and then attached the cpu cooler and I was very impressed and very pleased to see idle temperature for 4.0GHz at vcore 1.24v of just 39C, 37C, 39C, 37C and cpu temp of just 27C ! with just one fan of Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 with a Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler. The fan spin is around 1285RPM which it very quiet indeed. I will try overclock it full load in prime95 for 24 hours to find out what is the maximum temperature on core temp and cpu temp.

I am really surprise that MX-2 thermal paste is even better than Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste.

See here:

I had also notice the side window of my case of my gigabyte ex58-ud5 that the light next to memory ram is all went off except 5 blue lights (mean highest overclock)

Is it worth going for 4.2Ghz OC without HT instead of the 4Ghz with HT, both are stable with prime95 but the temps are lower with the 4.2 without HT. what is everyone else doing..?
Still have gotten my profiles from OcUk, (2 weeks now!!!) so i dont know how they set it up in the first place.

or has anyone used the Coolermaster V10 TEC Hybrid CPU Cooler.......

These things are supposed to be a complete waste of money mate... The TEC is supposed to be garbage, and you don't see any benefits from using something like this over a decent air cooler like a TRUE...

Also, have you tried going for 4.2GHz with HT enabled??

I personally don't understand why anyone would want to disable HT, if you are running your i7 system with HT disabled, you would be better off with a C2Q system!!!

I know people are turning it off to get higher clocks for benching, and what not, but for 24/7 usage you should leave HT enabled..

Seen people on various forums running @ 4.2GHz with HT on...

leave HT on i have it on 4.4Ghz stable and could probably go higher..but not worth it for a 24/7 clock
