***The Official Nokia N97 Thread (Keep all N97 stuff in here)***

Well I think I may have just parted company with Vodafone

Every single year I ring up for an upgrade, go through the same old rigramole of asking for my PAC code to be sent when they can't even come close to some of the deals you'd expect and then I get a call as my PAC code arrives offering me the exact deal I wanted.

Why oh why do they have to waste my time every bloody year. I tell this to the robot on the end of the phone and she says I can assure you you will not get this phone for free on anything less than £40 per month... erm - then why have lots of people being doing just that???

**** you and your arrogant call center workers and i'll finally get a iPhone as much as I wanted to try the N97!!!

And after all that, £30 pm - 700 mins, unlimited texts and internet, VP and STC with a free N97 on 18 mths.

Damn retentions :p

Anyone else having signal problems with their phones? I'm on three and normally I'd be getting a few bars at home but none on my N97. Sometimes it can't even detect a network :/.

Ive noticed this with mine. My N95 doesnt seem to have these problem though. Another software bug to be fixed i think.

I used my N97 to make a 1 hour work call earlier and several times through the conversation the guy was saying he kept hearing me breaking up quite abit. Im on Vodafone, I had 3 bars of signal i think.

One thing i have found is the battery indicator!!! sometimes it will get down to 2 bars, then the phone just dies. no warnings, no 1 bar, just dies straight from the 2nd bar then you have to recharge. I find a lot of the signal loss occouring on a (2 bar) low battery.

Also I noticed below where it says 3.5g, the two arrows are borken indicating that "connection is being established" rather than it being active.

Whats the difference (if any) between the firmware via NSU and vodafone's? I haven't even found vodafones yet tbh...

Had mine for about 36 hours, vodafone still not activated my sim so still stuck with my old PAYG atm. Any way I can speed it up, numbers to ring? I know it says allow 48hours to activate but I didn't actually think it would take that long.

Edit: Sorted.

On another note I know the N97 has flash built in but when I try and view flash videos on others sites than youtube I get the 'Flash player not installed' message. Kontraband doesn't work at all however dailymotion notifies me that there is a script available and it opens videos in real player. They both use Flash player 10 so I don't see why 1 will work and the other will not.

I just got mine, but my sim card won't be activated till tuesday so all I can do atm is use it as an mp4 player or browse the net on WLAN.

First impression: need an app to give me a full qwerty keyboard on screen XD. Funny that, I picked the N97 over the iphone to get a real keyboard, and now I want an on screen one :p ( instead of the handwriting rubbish or alfa numeric on screen kb).

Here is a rather in depth video review that I came across whilst looking for information on the N97. It's by far the best video review that I have seen for the phone so I thought that I'd share it here

Part 1
Part 2

Only a few minutes in, but I really like this guy's style already! The email he was writing whilst showing the keyboard is quite funny too. :D

Can anyone tell me what this thing is for ?

To hold the phone or whatever, but how do attach the long thing to whatever ( I know how to get it on my phone before anyone tells me to read the manual)?

The pic is made with the N97 camera btw but the picture cropped A LOT.
