co-op multiplayer pc games? I'll be teaming up (over LAN) with a 9 year old! So please mention which are and aren't suitable.

So far we've got Serious Sam and Total Annhilation - old but still fun

Cheers

I'd guess RPGs are out but i may try one.

Marvel Ulimate Alliance sounds like one he'll enjoy cheers

I think you'll find that some of these RPG's may be a bit too complicated for a 9 year old. You'd want a game that is easy hack'n slash instead, which Diablo should be able to fit that bill.

Now I cannot remember if this game had Multiplayer LAN support or not, but you can play on the same computer as it supports 4 players. A 1998 game called Get Medieval, which is pretty much just a Gauntlet clone, but quite a good one too.

And I don't know if you want to count split-screen gaming as an option as well, because there are PC versions of Dynasty Warriors 4, 5 or 6, Warriors Orochi or Samurai Warriors 2.

Blimey I remember that, it was awesome!

Red alert 3. The single player campaigns are designed around the possibility of co-op play, with each mission having 2 players working together, with one of them being controlled by the AI if playing solo.

Personaly RA3 wasn't my cup of tea as it was a bit less realistic and more cartoony so to speak than some of the previous ones ive played (such as the original red alert), but it still has its moment, and playing co-op should be fun.

Try Titan Quest + Immortal throne if you fancy something Diablo-esque but with 21st century graphics......
