two 22"'s or a single 30"

If you want a pretty nice size of screen for the cost of 2.5 22" monitors - I recommend this one (the one i'm using at the moment). Its 1920x1200 and looks brilliant for both games and movies. It uses a S-PVA screen and just looks generally awesome. I believe this screen (and the 2408WFP dell) have relatively high input lag. Personally, I have not had a problem with either and I play plenty of FPS games.

If you want to go for dual 22" monitors, this one is very nice (Dell 2209WA). An E-IPS panel that is a great price, looks awesome and has had plenty of good feedback on these forums.

If you use applications or games which make good use of dual monitors (eg CAD, SupCom) then a dual 22in is probably your best bet. If you like playing movies/Tv shows and playing single screen games, then a nice big single screen is probably better.

In my opinion 30inchers are too expensive to be justified, unless you absolutely need the extra size and resolution.

One thing you may want to consider - this uses the best panel around and is generally a fantastic monitor. Add a second later if required.

I'd go mid size higher quality for the price range you're looking at. The Dell and the HP have the better IPS panels which is why they cost slightly more.

thanks guys, i wasnt really planning on spening quite as much as some of the suggestions, can anyone explain why the £200 Dell is better than the ASUS at £160 when the asus has a better res, contrast ratio, response time, more inputs and the dell has only has slightly better viewing abgle?

Dell tend to make first class screens with realistic stats. A lot of other manufacturers have been known to provide slightly 'misleading' number ;)

That got me confused when I was comparing monitors a few months back. What you have to look at is the panel type which ocuk doesn't specify in the product description.

and what does the panel type mean? and why does it matter? is the dell worth the extra £50 each? (im also very hesitant of ever buying anything dell again due to bad past experiance)

Read the link in my post above ;)

The panel is actually made by LG, the monitor chassis looks like all the bog standard monitors we have at work.

You pay a 'premium' for Dell screens , justified by there quality.

If you are spending £250+ on monitors , its worth the extra for a Dell.

I've got a Sammy 245b, which suits my gaming needs , but poor viewing angles.

All depends on what you are going to use it for gaming, films etc...

ah great diddnt see the link!

probs mostly gaming but also movies basicly the dell means 400 rather that 320 pounds and is it worth spending?
