Trying to decide what pump/res to get for cpu block and gpu block loop.
I want to keep it as cheap as possible so would a single bay pump/res do the job? Would be using a dual rad as the budget is tight. I going for noise reduction more than outright cooling.

Cheap pump/res combos will give you what you pay for - small pump, low pressure which through multiple blocks degrades even further.

You don't need a res but you do need a good pump. And remember that the pump will say with you for years; new rigs come and go but the pump will still be a good pump.

You want a Primochill Typhoon III with a Laing DC04 or DC05 in it. That way you can run 2 loops off one pump and it works exceptionally well too.

Indeed, in pumps you very definitely get what you pay for. The cheapest reservoir on the market though is probably the Swiftech MicroRes and that is a superb piece of equipment. The beauty of the Typhoon III though is that you can share 1 pump between two loops, which actually makes it very quiet and very cost effective.

And, just to further re-enforce Mr Timbers suggestion, I'd be looking for good used equipment rather than cheap new stuff. There is lots of good used stuff in MM at the moment.

Yea, I managed to get a DDC pump and top for £35 which I thought was quite cheap! Its only a 10W pump but does the job well through a number of blocks and will last ages! Or I hope at least haha.

Its a pretty standard pump, there may be better out there but this is best bang for buck imo, plus loads of people use them if you need any help for whatever reason :)

I agree - I think the 18W is too much for most PC users. And the demand for the more powerful units means the 10W units are woefully undervalued at the moment.
