lol it seems that majority on here will just sit back and take the crap, there is no balls in this country to protest anymore. We have been shafted as the above quote has said, yet you still take the crap, amazing.

and what are you doing about it, other than posting here?
where is your campaign, where is your leadership and the uprising following you?
????

please, show me your betting slip as you must be really confident to see a jump of 5%+!

well?

well?

i dont think i can bet on that, i wanted to bet on a few things like NR etc.. but Ladbrokes and a few others wouldnt take the bet.
Anyway interest rates will be goign up soon and a new recession is just around the corner, what we had now was just the iceing on the cake the real problems are about to hit us.

interest rates going up is not a raise in taxation level on salary. i would be seriously surprised if bookes would not take a bet on this going up by 5%+ jump....

do you really think we will see a 5%+ raise soon? honestly?
think about it.

Just edited my first post on the front page so it makes sense, missed the word "sort" out of that sentence!

Going back to that first post, I wouldn't like to speculate exactly how much or how a rise would be instituted but it's got to happen sooner or later. I really do have that little faith in either our outgoing government or the incoming government to steer us out of recession without having to tax the British people again.

We're an obvious and easy target for revenue generation, we don't protest like we used to and even if we did they wouldn't listen. Tony Blair didn't in 2000 for the petrol protests, and I doubt very much that Gordo or Dave would nowadays.

no one is saying tax wont go up, 5% for income tax is a joke of a raise though, they wouldnt even think of trying it.

Don't tell me, you'll be asking us to vote BNP in a minute

its a question everyone needs to start to think about.

Why is it? you have, as an employee, two options. Keep working and watch your PAYE deduction rise or stop working. Since I doubt many, if any, people would stop working because of this I think it's a but of a pointless question.
So what would you do about it mattheman? riot? protest? jump up and down, stamp your feet and throw your toys about a bit? and then pay it.

what would you do if the base rate of tax went from 22% to 27% of your earnings and NI went to 12%?
pay it? notheing else to do (apart from move to the colonies, but that would mean I'd be either surrounded by obese gun maniacs or giant poisinous spiders).

looking to move country if that happen.

I'm self employed which basically amounts to being a tax collector for the government. Taxes will head upwards that will be no surprise. Thread is a bit pointless and no you will not all flee Britain if the basic rate goes up. I would rather see the idle and under achievers pay more than increasingly more punitive taxation on high achievers and entrepreneurs.

VAT to 19% is the most likely and will raise a significant amount of income (£10b-£20b)

Income tax rises make us uncompetitive with the rest of Europe, but VAT at 19% only just brings us in line with Ireland.
