Well it looks like Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper is to announce that Britain will officially recognise Workers Memorial Day. I **** you not.

Whilst it is tragic that in 2008/09, 180 people were killed at work in Britain, I cannot see why we should have it as a bank holiday. How about making St. Georges day a bank holiday?

There's "better" things to have a bank holiday for than this, my heart goes out to those families that lost loved ones then... but like malfunkshun said, a proper bank holiday for 11/11 would make more sense.

April 28.
That's a lot of bank holidays in a short space of time.
There's already Good Friday, Easter, May Day and Spring Bank holiday around that date.

November 11 would be better. There's nothing between August BH and Christmas now.

'Workers Day' on April 28 and St. Georges Day are crap days for Bank Holidays, you already have Easter, Whitsun and May Day around there, no more needed.

Nov 11 would be great, would break up that rubbish stretch from end August to Christmas without any respite :p

180 people. Now I feel sorry for the loved ones, however 180 people out of...a few million (?) is hardly a lot is it?

Now for the millions that died in the world wars or even for St Georges' day would take 100 times more sense, but then that would celebrate being British, something that this lousy government isn't proud of, wouldn't it?

Its about time we had as many holidays as the rest of Euro
I think we should have a NO VAT Tax Day :)

This Government is hardly inspiring is it? I mean Worker Memorial Day!

Let's have 5th November, wanting to blow up Parliament now that's inspirational or did I mean aspirational :D
