All three fights with Ward were classics and two were named fight of the year if I'm not mistaken.

Very sad indeed, Gatti was as exciting a fighter as you could wish to see, with a huge heart and as Pigeon_Killer mentioned, his trilogy with Mickey Ward were literally brilliant.

RIP mate, you were a true warrior.

RIP Arturo. I remember watching his trilogy with Micky Ward, the first was one of the best fights I've ever seen. True warriror who was too brave in the ring.

I first saw him after somebody mentioned the fights with Ward on here and I went to youtube and watched them. One of the most courageous fighters I've ever watched, RIP.

Gatti was a great boxer. Many people have said, but i believe the Ward rubber match to be one of the great fights in boxing history.

sad to hear of him dying...he was canadian as well which i didnt know...been reading that his wife, whos a bit of a looker has been charged/arrested with 1st degree murder...didnt realise she was 23 so quite young...seems like they had a fiery relationship as well.

Although I never rated him as a boxer, that is tragic and a total waste of a young life.

Whilst Gatti was a great fighter and Forrest was a decent boxer, the biggest loss to boxing in July was the brilliant Alexis Arguello, a legendary boxer.

Gatti was just great to watch, as previously mentioned two of his fights with Micky Ward ended up as 'Fights of the year'.

As for Alexis what do you say about a boxing legend? The guy was one of the most respected boxers in history, no one had a bad word to say about him.

The guy never 'Bad mouthed' an opponent or involved himself in the silly game of 'Eyeballing' his opponent.

And with an impressive 65 KO's in 82 win's he could certainly bang a bit!
He came agonisingly close to becoming the first man in boxing history to win four world titles at different weights as well.

July 2009, a sad month for the world of boxing......
