Internet censorship in the US? AT&T blocks 4chan

Oh come off it. You're being a proper drama queen now. The worst case examples are moderated and deleted pretty sharply. I'd like to hear some examples of 'inhuman' entries.

I try to avoid it as much as I can, if you particularly want to browse that **** hole, by all means go for it.

The problem is Fenris, what 4chan represents has been around forever. In film, literature etc - you will find acts far more depraved than 90% of the posts in /b/ by going into WHSmiths and picking up a best seller. The reason you're getting so incensed over it is because the internet has allowed it to become much more concentrated and visible. But it has always been there.

Also: lets not start giving examples shall we? It would be the quickest way to get this thread locked, and at the moment it's a pretty reasonable debate.

Edit: and it's not like 4chan doesn't have rules or moderators, but the place is so massive and has so much traffic things slip through the net.

I honesltly couldn't give a toss, 4chan, or more specifical /b/ is a disgusting and donwright pathetic place full of horrible people, I have no sypathy and will accept no justification, it simply should not be alowed to exist.

I wouldn't say /b/ was full of horrible people, I'd just say it was full of pathetic people who thought they were cool for

a] Looking at gore and pretending to be unaffected
b] Looking at animal cruelty and pretending to be unaffected
c] Looking at 'young people' and pretending to be unaffected
d] Watching several samefags conducting a raid/DDoS and thinking they're cool for being part of it when they're just mashing F5

/b/ can be clever and it can be very, very funny, but most of the time it's idiotic and there are far better boards on 4chan to frequent. The only board which is worse than /b/ is /mu/.

I dunno about that. Seen a fair bit of child porn on there...

See above. :p

Although it is against the rules and gets deleted when its seen so to be fair it's not really their fault.

All of which is deleted and the posters are banned as soon as a mod sees it. Can't get fairer than that can you ?

Or, quite possibly, all of the above without the "pretending"...

Say what you like about /b/ and 4chan but I wouldn't like to use an internet where sites like it weren't allowed to exist. It's not the job of carriers to decide what is offensive and what isn't.

Once did a tour of the chans just to see what the fuss was about......

Stay away from the chans it's not healthy!

No, but it has books describing and depicting anything from murder, rape, war, incest, cannibalism, the list goes on. Maybe we should just go back to burning books and witches, at least you knew where you stood with a lynching :D

Have you seen what 4chan is doing in retaliation?

They're Digg'ing and Twittering that the AT&T CEO has died. :D

I remember when they did this to Apple by claiming Steve Jobs died of a heart attack, Apple's stock actually fell.

It's a felony to do this though, so someone's going to get in serious trouble I reckon.

lol :D

but seriously if you cant see the difference between /b/ and whsmiths then i feel for you.

that wasnt my point.

Seemed like it to me, your point was that 4chan had a child pornography section and that it was somehow rife on there, like most people having a fit about 4chan think.

When in reality it's just some ****s trolling and getting dealt with mods, but things just move so much faster there and it has vastly more users, that it attracts more of these people.

You could use most message board based websites in your argument using that logic.

During the apple live conference they hacked a live feed though so people thought it was true

It actually was your point, else you wouldn't have said 4chan has a section for child pornography.

He didn't actually; he was attacking the WH Smiths comparison.
