Because the majority of people on /b/ - in fact 4chan for that matter - are teenagers, and one of the things that teenagers do best is attempted oneupmanship. Put an anonymous veil in front of them and you'll get loads of them faking desensitisation and trying to look hard.

Look what happened with Kenny Glenn - if /b/ really didn't care the guy wouldn't have got vanned. Glenn didn't get reported "for the lulz", he got done because the people at /b/ didn't like to see a cute animal getting hurt ["/b/ ****ing loves cats"] and they wanted to exact revenge which is a] not desensitised and b] an attempt to instigate justice and morality: things that the random forum vehemently protest they have no interest in.

I will agree there are people there who genuinely enjoy torturing animals etc but they are in the slim minority, which is why the same pictures come up time and time again.

Loving the holier than thou, self-righteous attitude of a 'certain' poster. You seriously need to get over yourself fella and pull your head out of your arse! Nobody is forcing you to view anything that's available on 4chan, or any of the other 'chans', yet bizarrely for someone who claims to abhor the place you seem to know an awful lot about the content!

Actually i think theyve shown that they really dont :) hearsay and rumours are a wonderful thing to base an arguement on it seems. Its like a critic that slates a film without watching it.
 
Can't say I find anything that depraved on 4chan.
What used to be the old "rotten" and the current "bog" are far far far worse.

There's some seriously messed up literature out there.
