Hi all.

Looking for a cheap last minute getaway for me and the other half.

Turkey is looking alright and cheap, i know nothing about the place. Which areas are worth going to, which should be avoided? I think i want to avoid Bodrum, it sounds like a hotter version of Blackpool.

my girlfriend is blonde, i don't want a load of turkish pervs glaring at her

We went to turkey last year and my wife is blonde. She had more trouble from the Russian women than the men.

where abouts in Turkey did you go? Dalaman area? That seems to crop up cheap, which im a bit weary about.

Hmm looking at last minute deals for myself and the 'rents. Bah, either things are too expensive (well over a grand per person) or the dates aren't quite right..

We stayed at a resort in Tekirova which is about 20 minutes from Kemer, used Antalya airport. Dalaman is the other side of the country which also seems quite inland too.

Tekirova is a small village/town but is far away from anything exciting so is ideal if you just want to lay on beach or sit by the pool. The area was full of Russians and it's a refreshing surprise when you bump into people from the UK.

anyone any opinions on Marmaris?

Tacky place, wouldn't go again. It's got a similar feel to Blackpool.

There is some nice things to do tho. The businesses will always try to rip you off at any opportunity.

has it got anything to do, culture wise?

Mate, if that's what you're looking for, go straight to Istanbul. Fantastic place, and well worth a visit.

Got some photos from my visit here. I recommend the Zeynep Sultan Hotel; it's within easy walking distance of the Hagia Sophia.

Be careful in Turkey regarding the comments about girlfriends, wives etc if they are on there own walking about occasionally they will get some unwanted attention.

in the end we went to Hisaronu, paid around £139 each for 7days 3* bed and breakfast. had a brilliant holiday. booked it around 9pm on tuesday night, flew out less than 24 hours later. will post some pictures up if anyone is interested in seeing what the area looks like.

Hisaronu was mad when I went, it was overflowing with fat drunk English.

Turkey used to be good before it ended up like Spain.

Side is good and you get lots of historic buildings, columns ect. Generally a nice place to go. But of course you get the guys in the shops trying to get you to come in and buy stuff and what not

Anyone got any experience of Antalya?
The photos look nice of the cliff and mountains but not sure if it's a nice place to be or not.

at night in town there, it was a bit hectic BUT we spent most of our time out and about on boat trips, turkish baths, jeep safari, mud baths etc etc during the day so by evening we just popped into town for something to eat and then headed back to the hotel. Always back for around midnight, no desire to get 'wasted and party'

Side is in Antalya, right on the coast. and yes those mountains are awesome and there are lots of them about if you get driven the right way
