Those of you that object to this, do you find it offensive that if you visit somewhere like the Pantheon or the Vatican you are expected to dress modestly? Do you expect people of other denominations to respect our rules when visiting places like cathedrals and churches in this country?
I know some of you be bothered if you had to alter your behaviour as you have your own views on religion and to extent I can understand that point of view, though I don't agree with it. It appears though that some people are just getting all anti (what they think is) non British. Tolerance isn't a bad thing and I have to say the majority of the people in this country who I have issue with making the place 'worse' aren't the relatively recent immigrants.
Personally if entering a religious builiding of another faith then I would respect their dress code and customs. However uniformed police are there in an official capacity and in my view the people in the mosques should respect that and afford them every assistance, as they should get where ever they go. I fail to see how wearing a headsacarf should affect the way they are treated by religious groups.
Another point is this is sexist, enforcing this for women not for men, it's pretty widely known that in islam women are afforded different right to men, wouldn't this been seen as discrimination against women?
My final point is that this probably has been introduced by some white racial equalities commisar working for the police, the equivalent of which nearly cost my dad his job in the Fire Brigade.
