He's just a troll, WaW is fantastic, as is the orange box - never played the darkness myself but read good stuff about it
 
Sorry, didn't realise you wasnted a full blown discussion about it.

Er.

In the collective term of "choices", so that's plural rather than singular, I'd say "no". Out of the three, the only one I'd consider purchasing is perhaps "The Orange Box", very good games.

The Darkness I always felt falls into the same catagory of Bioshock, i.e., over rated crap which people thought they looked 'cool' to like. In reality it only has one thing worthy and that's a great torture scene.

Call of Duty: World at War, it's alright. It's COD so that's a plus sign, but nothing majorily new.

But I apologise if you thought I was trolling, just thought a quick "no" would give you more time to reassess your options for tonights shopping spree.

Chill ~J~, your response wasn't the most useful as it's obvious that some reason is expected in the response. Although calling people a troll for such answers is equally as useful to the OP by causing arguments.

The orange box is far better on PC and will run on quite old hardware so I'd avoid that on the 360.

WaW is decent enough but not a patch on CoD4 and I've not played The Darkness.

The Darkness is a great game but peoples opinions of it vary wildly. It will certainly come down to your taste in games. Orange Box is a must buy for any platform. World at War was "meh" for me but i've had my fill of WW2 games.
 
I would say that the Orange Box is a better purchase on the PC rather than 360/PS3. I've played a little of TF2 on the PS3 and noticed the low frame rate and slow downs were quite frequent.

COD World at War is not bad. I loved COD4 but World at War just didn't have me coming back for more after I finished the single player game, I much prefer COD4 Multiplayer.
I recently traded it in.

Never played the Darkness.

Cheers for the advice guys, I didn't mean to create arguments from stupid questions, I just think opinions are better than reviews.

I think I will pick up the Darkness and the Orange box as 1) I LOVED the HL series on the PC (no longer got a decent rig) and portal is a great laugh 2) The darkness looks odd... so May as well pick up a cheapo pre owned for the sake of it 3) I will pick them up cheap :D

The Darkness is good for a one-time-only run through - rent it if you can on 360. The PS3 doesn't use any anti-aliasing which drove me bonkers.

WaW I am fed up of WWII weapons now so found it boring. The Orange Box is well worth it especially if you've never played Portal.
 
Only if the soap is Pears, the washing up liquid is Fairy, the toothpaste is Colgate and I'd avoid the pot noddle at all costs. :D
 
I'm going shopping at some point too. (thread hijack time!!oneone)

I got £24 in vouchers for the No competitor hinting from BE* for joining their 24meg package.

From what I have browsed it is between Aion for £25, a pack of 100 DVD-Rs for £21, or Band of Brothers on BluRay for around £25 also.

Open to other suggestions.
 
Orange Box is superb you cant really go wrong with that one. Id consider the Darkness, good game but not great, given how cheaply it can be picked up I think its worth a look.

WaW did nothing for me, really average shooter and my only memorable moment occured when a Japanese soldier picked up a grenade to throw it back and it blew his arm off :p.
 
Band of Brothers Blu-Ray

One of the finest transfers to date. The sound is so amazing I sometimes think tanks are coming up behind me. O_O

Oh and @topic. I enjoyed all the games and since The Darkness 2 has just been announced you may aswell get familiar with 1st one.

I would say they are all good choices.

The Darkness - A very different and really good SP experience. Some people say it's over rated but i bet to differ.

The Orange Box - Awesome collection of games & Portal is just awesome.

Cod:WaW - Fantastic SP but don't start it on veteran or it will spoil the experience, possibly the best campaign i've played. Never tried MP.
 
From what I've heard the Darkness is excellent. The Orange Box is also fantastic. I'd pass on WaW though, didn't rate the single player much, and the multiplayer isn't as good as on COD:MW.
