Police new head scarfs

In both:rolleyes:

Heres a killer for all you muslim bashers...did you know that a lot of non muslim people in the UK are using Sharia courts to settle their disputes??..Ooooh shocking isnt it??..how dare non muslims use a muslim system of justice eh??.

Shove that in your pipe and smoke it:p

Provided linkie as well: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/article6721158.ece

Maybe beacuse in the first case a muslim was involved. It also makes no note of religious background of the non-muslim. Were they english asian/etc or English white? Your link proves little.

Seems that case used a sharia court for convenience.

I should not have to wear a silly head scarf to be respectful of someones beliefs. And to be honest, I dont believe in there beliefs.

As far as I can tell you are neither a police officer or female, so stop whining for the sake of whining.

Just because you don't follow the cultural or religeouse beliefs of other doesn't mean that you can ignore and disregard them, especialy in a building DEDICATED to those beliefs, saying otherwise just makes you a disrespectful and ignorant ******.

This is a mosque, a place of worship and a place dedicated to the beliefs of a certain culture, just because you are not of that culture, does not mean you have the right to ignore them, showing you are able to follow their cultural ideas while being in these places shows you are tolerant of their beliefs and that you are willing to understand them and they will respect you for it.

There shouldn't be any problem with this whatsoever as long as it's a universal policy. Police have enough problems with 'respect' as it is, the G20 being an example thereof. I think it's a positive thing that they want to try and become more 'approachable' to the general public (ie. everyone who resides in our fine country).

The only negative things connected with this general topic have nothing to do with the head scarves. I am more concerned about having a religious court system which works outside of our own justice system than someone having to cover their hair temporarily on the rare occasion that they are required to enter this particular type of place of worship. It's not like they are going to make non muslim police officers to wear an head scarf and watch over the services held in a mosque at every possible occasion.

I'd be more shocked if they decided to implement police presence in places of worship in general because that is wrong.

The example of France that is often cited is, don't forget, for all religious garb that is on show (so a necklace with a star or a crucifix on it which is concealed, thus not in view of others is ok) being banned in schools. Their example is for everyone and is not selective.

In a way I think it's quite a nice thing to see a police officer wearing his turban whilst doing his job: keeping the peace. A happy officer is far more likely to do his job better. Plus in some communities people might be more willing to approach him. Maybe, just maybe, they are trying to bring back the old notion of the friendly neighbourhood Bobby who everyone knows, who stops and chats to residents and who makes everyone just feel that little bit more at ease.

The cold and intimidating image that many police give off (not all, mind) is only negative and will only fuel more people making outcries against our police force. Such as has been seen during the G20 manifestations.

It shouldn't be police vs people as is often portrayed by popular culture or by popular opinion. Look at any show which depicts riots. It's all about the "us vs the police". It just shouldn't be.

If it helps to make my community safer, then I'm all for it.

Well as Christianity teaches tolerance the pastor/vicar/congregation wouldn't really mind his turban.

We would expect him to keep wearing his turban and think nothing of it, not disrespectful and no anger as we would know he isn't there as part of his religion but for another reason most likely.

Indeed.

So why must women police officers adorn the headscarf to enter a mosque?

Or are they not able to tolerate this?

honestly, this just gets better and better. I mean come on, what white non-muslim with half a brain(police or not) would wear that on there heads. Fair enough in their country but, hello??? This is England? or mabye not....

The turban in a church is an interesting notion.

I don't think most Anglicans would have too much to say about it so long as the person conducted themselves in the appropriate manner.

I get more annoyed with tourists wondering through churches with their loud voices and cameras and baseball caps that I would do with a Sikh officer in a church on business.

I'd not ask a Sikh to remove his Turban and I'd hope that he would treat my place of worship with the same respect I'd treat his.

Simples

Nothing wrong with a bit of respect and tolerance. Still, I'll let the bandwagon roll on. I know how you all like a good lynching.

Glad I found one half decent reply before I lost interest in this thread.

It's not as if this is likely to affect a police 'raid', but where is the harm in a bit of respect if they were perhaps entering and enquiring for some information to help them with a particular issue.

Anyway, back to the bandwagon......outrageous pandering to the minority  ...blah, blah, blah....
