Vtec Noooo, ran out of skill

There's a really big insurance approved Springfield accident repair centre in Washington, they're mainly a Honda dealer and do loads of repair work on all sorts of Hondas. A friend works there and said they recently had an NSX in.

Which road did you bin it on out of interest?

Well just been along to Arnold Clack to get it looked for and it's booked back in for Thursday now. Will leave it as it is for now until I hear back from the insurance company. If I have any issues then I will mention Springfield Washington, thanks.

Lost it on one of the b-roads between Matfen and Ponteland while taking some unfamiler back roads home after popping out to see some mates at my old place of work.

I don't understand the sig :(

its an adaptation of [TW] FOX's sig with a 5 series on a road, robby has just shopped his golf in front of it :p

unlucky on the damage, could have been much worse though... IE a tree stump hidden by the hedge, cracked radiator, damaged bonnet... how fast were you going, any more about the crash? Life off over steer or just lack of grip ?

As a fellow Vtec lover myself

I just have to post these....

is it worth using your insurance though?
your premium is bound to go up if you claim. can't be more than a couple hundred to fix?

although your premium won't go up a couple hundred.. hmm

Well that was my thought as my excess is £400 plus it'll probably cost me an extra £300 or so in total for increased premiums over the next 5 yrs, however the damage appears to be worse than it looks.

Front bumper will need to be replaced, and the whole drivers side will need to be sprayed and the small dents that now run along the scratch mark removed. Headlights lenses are scratched and I'm missing part of the Type R badge. That work alone will most likely cost more than the £700 it'll cost me through the insurance charges. The damage thats resulted in the wheel being off camber could also be quite pricey, nothing appears to be bent that I could see. Wishbone, shock, steering arm ect all look ok which to me say that is a combination of a few parts or I've damaged the subframe. Sorting out the wheel alone could cost anywhere between £100 - £1500 :(

Because of the the type of car it is I need to be certain that it is fixed properly and is going to drive and handle like it should, so couple that with the costs for the parts I think the insurance route is the way to go.

Hmm probably not what you want to hear but with that sort of suspension damage i'll bet its never the same again. Not in my experience anyway, you only have to see how they're made to see why.

Yeah that is a worry, but one I've thought about and will need to live with. It could be something simple that I failed to see but until they start on it I'll just have to wait and see.

I'll just have to keep telling myself that it'll be better with a new lick of paint, a non stone chipped bumper, and a fresh new suspension set up :p

Oh dear, seems to be a bad week for VTEC powahs! ...at least your CTR is only a little damaged, Darryn's was ..well I'd say it's totalled, but I suppose the insurance company will decide that in the end.

Take it accross to Unit 8 or TDI North for alignment; best money spent (dont forget camber bolts for the front and arms for the rear). Should cost about £200, but it will sort out the handling on wet roads (or at least a little), and in the dry you will keep it 5800+ all the time.

Yeah Revolution on Newcastle offer the same set up inc camber kit back and front for around £150. Has been on the to do list since I got it.

Well been thinking about it and I'm going to call my insurance this morning to see if I can put it into Honda and get an estimate off them for the work. Its currently booked to go back into Arnold Clark tomorrow but I'd rather go and get the work done through Honda then at least I know that they know exactly how to work on the car and set it up. Hopefully the estimates will come in round the same figure so the insurance wont have a problem with letting them do the work. Will let you know how I get on.
