itunes - ripping cd's to 320kbs ?

What's the point in using 320 kbps CBR MP3? MP3's raison d'etre is to be a good quality lossy codec with efficient use of space.

As far as ripping goes, "XLD" seems to have become the new hotness on OS X. On par with the legendary EAC on Windows, allegedly..

I have all my CDs ripped to Apple Lossless using iTunes. I was thinking about reripping them using EAC, because... well, because I can, really. Does anyone think there'd actually be a difference?

EAC? Do you mean AAC?

You shouldn't hear much (if any difference) at higher bitrates, but then it depends on the listening environment etc etc

Nah, meant EAC :) Would convert the files to lossless anyway, but wondered if EAC might rip the discs more accurately than iTunes?
