Hi all,

Have a set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers that I'm going to sell. Problem is that the backlight is broken on the control pod - it's a common issue with these speakers.

"No problem," I thought, "I'll just RMA it to Logitech. It's in warranty, and their service is supposed to be really good."

Sadly not. The guy is being awkward and suggesting I return the speakers to the point of purchase. As I bought them from an online store and it'd cost me £30 to send the speakers back, that's not very helpful. What's the point sending a 20kg subwoofer back and forth when the stupid control pod is broken?

So has anybody had a problem with the control pod on these speakers? What did you do to persuade Logitech to send you a new pod? I thought their customer service was supposed to be the best in the business.

Could do that. But I really can't be bothered to package up the massive sub and arrange for it to be collected, especially as I don't have the original box. It just seems so inane when the problem is with the 1kg control pod.

Been reading mixed reports on the net. Some people have managed to get the pod replaced, where others ended up sending the whole set back.

Perhaps you gave the wrong approach when asking for a replacement ?

I asked if I could buy a replacement control pod, to which they offered to send me one for free.

Why on earth should I buy a control pod when the existing one has failed during the first year of a two-year warranty? That's the point of the warranty - the company will sort it so I don't have to buy a new one!

you have to have proof of purchase though, I didnt.
Not any more anyways.

The point is that I showed them I wasn't fter a free control pod...
They cant give away control pods for free to people without z5500's, they need proof of purchase.

It's shocking my document scan of proof of purchase got rejected from Logitech. Thank goodness that not only do I keep printouts I also keep the emails of the receipts. It would appear Logitech's policy has changed. When I do not know. It was only 2 - 3 months ago I found this out when I was still within warranty for another item. In the past years scanned receipts was acceptable.

I had to take a screen capture of the email (which was also a printout that was sent to them) with all the details before they would accept and issue out a replacement.

I have no idea why scanned receipts that OCUK supplied or even my own email printouts which is almost no any different to what OCUK supplies in the box but it got rejected from Logitech. It's just OCUK's are usually looking like the black cartridge is always needing changed or badly wrinkled up/folded paper. It's not like I doctored up the scan.

Odd... surely it would be a lot easier to fake a screenshot than it would a scanned invoice anyway?

Anyway, I rang Logitech in the end. They said that if I send them my invoice, they'll ask me to send a 'small part' of the speakers back, and then they'll ship me an entire new set of speakers. I'll believe that when they're on my doorstep, but it's very good service if it's true.

i thought id mention my backlight has gone, i purchased the set from OCUK in Feburary, they told me to send the set back to retailer as well.

I thought logitech had good support :S
