MUSE: The Resistance - Tracklist Released

How so? I can't agree with that - Muse have never denied their guitar driven rock-based roots, nor have they delivered music that sounds like a seagul being beaten to death with a bagpipe to 17/3 time signature.

They had the small hit record (complete with Radiohead comparison) then the 2nd critcally accliamed record that lead to the ambitious multi-platinum record which then, in turn, lead to stadium success.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new record is their most outlandish yet. I mean...it's about conspiracy theories for christssake! :P

You could say the same about loads of bands! Besides, Radiohead's early success was off the back of one song, which I can't say ever happened with Muse, who had reasonably successful singles off all of their albums.

Sadly I don't like political flavours to my songs. Muse should go back to the 'boohoo she doesn't love me, it's so unfair' lyrics they are good at :D

Here is the intro to their new song Uprising.
Muse - Uprising
The full song will be played on Monday on Radio 1!
Sounds awesome, but not sure what Zane was on about the lyrics/rap?? hmmm.

The comparison of the first album to Radiohead was obviously going to happpen seeing that it was produced by the same person who produced The Bends album.

This does sound REALLY REALLY good, but I am SO excited for Exogenisis. I cannot wait for Part 3. Its going to make or break the album. IMO Knights of Cydonia made BH&R, Hoodoo, Supermassive Black Hole were also fantastic but KoC is just another level!

A lot of people would be on the other side of the fence on that view that Knights of Cydonia broke it rather than made it. I personally loved most of it but did feel at the chorus the vocals were its weakness.

Doesn't hide the fact that the opening minute of Knights of Cydonia at Wembley was THE single greatest moment of my life. lol

I also am majorly excited about Exogenisis. That is going to be something else

Bellamy's getting a bit crazier every year and he's getting more freedom to express it in his music.
What I used to love about muse was their song writing approach, they wanted every song to sound great live, the direction was focused on how to make music sound good and energetic when you go see it - from 2002-6 the best live act i've ever seen. Though the first time I saw them on the Origin tour it was brilliant, playing all your favourite songs, then the Absolution was great as there was some brilliant tracks like Hysteria/Stockholm syndrome/B&H guitar style.
Then came a change which I can only say left their anthemic style to more a "lets just get every thing that sounds good to use and put it into a blender and see what comes out. Mix up some wild west rock, classical, space funk, jazz, queen, pop, prog rock, electro synth, flamenco and voila, it's Black holes album!
I applaud them for experimenting and exploring their musical capabilities but I was really hoping they left all that stuff behind and focused on more prog rock. The United States oF Eurasia seems more wackier than all I listed above combined. So not off to a good start -.-

The band have admitted to leave what is the past as past and not do more of the same thing. They are a band that moves in a new direction with every new project and you have to give them credit for that. You wouldn't want them to become average at what the do so I am onboard with what I am hearing so far.

Knights of Cydonia

While Wembley was awesome, Marlay Park last year was better!

Back to BH&R, pretty much every song was great on that album, bar Soldiers Poem and Exo Politics which were just good.

The chorus was a bit weak, but the riff and whole "persona" of the song made up for it.

Anyway we can agree with the fact that this album will be mental. :D

I dont think they could better any of the songs they have already made in their original "style".
As long as what they release is better than the other crap thats out there at the minute I'll be happy.

I mean, I had a listen to that new Kasabian album at the weekend, what a collection of worthless dirges that is.

BH&R direction wasn't really a direction in my opinion, and that was what I had a problem with more than anything. It's a collection of decent songs, produced wonderfully and lots of layers of synths and such wherever possible.
But as an album it's just that, they took loads of directions and like I listed above and it made for a weird album..
Saying that, everything I hear on this new one has strings attached - very much love this style. The piano/strings section at the end of the Eurasia song is great. Cant wait to see the last 3 tracks on this thing.

Uprising has leaked out onto the interwebs, miles and miles better than USoE, a lot more Muse-y and a catchy riff in there too!

:O

this has to be the best Muse song I've ever heard, cant wait for the album now!

youtube it if you want to listen "Muse - Uprising"

Ok just listening to it now on Radio 1.

Well it's better than that other song for sure. Doctor who intro = lol. Much more catchy/the guitar is better. Sounds a lot more like a song they'd make on the last album. It's good enough it'll probably get a few plays in my library but maybe about 1% of my total Muse listenings...

I want my Showbiz/Origin of Symmetry back :(. Oh and Hullabaloo too, what an amazing album that is, some cracking tracks. I'd even accept Absolution Muse back (which is still a pretty decent album)! Still as I absolutely love Showbiz/Origin of Symmetry/Hullabaloo I'll still consider myself a Muse fan :)
