Cancel your Orange contract now!

Does anyone know if it says this in any Orange terms and conditions? I'm signing up on a contract soon and it would be nice if I knew this doesn't affect me, although I don't think it makes sense if it didn't.

I've just this minute got off the phone after canceling my contract. I'm also keeping the phone as I pointed out to them that in their T & C's the phone isn't part of the contract.

How long did you have left on your contract?

Reading peoples various replies on moneysavingexpert it seems hard work to fully get it cancelled.

I rarely go over 70 mins of my 700 free a month, I don't use much internet and my text messages are unlimited so I'm not sure how hard it will be for me to cancel.

It shouldn't be a question of how hard it is, obviously you might have to ring a few times to speak to someone who understands the situation, but the fact is is that the terms and conditions are in your favour, regardless of how much of your allowance you use :)

So basically this affects you if a) you go over your contract limits or b) you use the net (not wifi) and don't have a data allowance in your package?

Just over 6 months left on the contract. Customer services are doing what they can to make people stay. As mentioned above it's all in their T & C's and if you want to leave then you can.

Even if you don't go over you are eligible. Look at the post I quoted earlier.

in particular there’ll be changes made to costs for web access form your mobile, and the cost of calls not included in your plan (the likes of 0870 numbers...)

I think 0870 and answerphone charges are the only way it will affect contract holders unless they go over their allowances, then the other charges will occur.

Just got off the phone to them this minute. Simply said that I received a text this morning telling me about the increased charges and after looking through the T&C's and speaking to somebody at the Citizens Advice Bureau, I believe I have the right to terminate my contract without penalty. She initially said that these changes don't apply to me as I do not go over my allowance so I just responded by saying that if I call a '08' number I will now be charged 14.7p rather than 5p so it does apply to me. She then agreed so I asked for my PAC to be sent out at which point she said that she could only send it out if I pay the remaining 3 months. Rather than argue, I just hung up and called back. Opened up with the exact same line but added that I wanted my PAC sent out and it was sorted in under a minute, the operator made no effort to keep me :)

Basicially it depends on the mood of the operator. If you're finding it hard work then just hang up and try again.

For goodness sake, rang Orange again, customer retentions, they checked on system, seemed I should have recieved a text on 20 Jul 09, have now cancelled (again!!!!) - I have a PAC code coming (and 30 days to make up my mind) but think I'll leave orange as they really pushed me around on this - tried to make me look stupid!

The way they finished my contract was just that - they reset the 18 months so it is as if I have completed my contract - if they hadnt mucked me about then I would probably have stayed with them - customer service is everything!

I just cancelled my dads 24 month contract and he's only 4 months into it, They cancelled without an argument.

Ok just want to check something.

People are saying they are cancelling 4 months into their contracts............are they asking to have the phones sent back?

Just signed up for the dophine 20 with web addon and the HTC Hero, paid £146 for the phone

So if I get the text and cancel, would I pay for the month and end up keeping the Hero for £146 ???

If your contract was taken out before the 31st May you will be fine to cancel your contract.

You don't need to receive the text, providing your contract began before the 31st May (? as the above poster says - I'm not sure on that) then you should be able to cancel.

Just got off the phone to Orange, I never got this text message so I'm not allowed to cancel.

My wife got the message so she can cancel, wtf?
