Cancel your Orange contract now!

Just to say those of you looking to cancel your contract they asked me to verify what the text message said, i have taken a screengrab of the text message for anyone to use as reference. ;)

How?! They just keep asking if I received the message so they can put it in their system

You seem to only get the message if you exceed a tariff allowance

Tell them you did receive it then. I got the text this morning (I was going to phone up anyway) and I don't go over my allowance.

Regardless whether you got the text or not, the changes still apply to you so you have the right to cancel.

I just had a rather helpful guy answer my call after the buffoon in the retentions department.

He explained the changes in great detail, and the new charges. They are very bloody steep I must say. when I asked if I can cancel, he started with the whole "Looking at your minutes, you haven't gone over your allowance", which is fine as I haven't, but this shouldn't be used as a way to stop people cancelling.

Now I just have to decide whether I cancel my deal (which is a good one) just for the sake of it or carry on. Although the thought of paying 15p flat rate to call orange/landlines and 35p to other networks outside of a my bundle minutes is a very bitter pill to have to swollow.

I always knew Orange were expensive, but this just confirms that.

:(

I tried the orangeworld address on my mobile but get taken to the orangeworld page with an error message saying that the page was not recognised, does it only work if you click through it in the text?

I don't think I got that message, it seems from the moneysupermarket thread that some people will be getting the text on 1st august.

Just for your info, I was told by the first woman that I couldn't cancel until I received the message, I quoted all the T&C's etc and was quite argumentative but calm, she wasn't having none of it, I eventually gave the phone to my wife who also is on Orange who received the message and was able to cancel straight away.

I rang again and got another woman, I said I received the message (lying) she said ok asked when I wanted to cancel and hey presto.

So it's who you get really, it's clear some talk BS!

Hey,

I got the text today, but no one has given me a deffinate answer to my question on page 1!

Can i cancel this contract and keep the phone and put a PAYG sim in it for my dad. Then take another contract out straight away and get a new phone with orange using the same card?

Rang up, cancelled within 5 mins. Very helpfull guy on the phone. Swapped over to PayasYouGo sim and gonna look for a new phone now. Thanks Guys!

Yes. They may try it on by saying you have to send your phone back but that's BS. The phone belongs to you and is seperate from your contract (says so in the T&C's) and you have the right to cancel your contract.

I just checked and my new 18 month contract started 30th June and I got the text message today. So maybe this applies to newer contracts as well?

As I am unlikely to go over my bundle and my line rental is only a tenner a month, I cannot see myself making enough 08xx calls for it to bother me much.

I had a brief look and I just can't see any SIM only deals that offer a lot for a tenner a month.

I would want about 200 minutes, 200 texts and internet. At present Orange give me 400 mins, 300 texts and internet for the tenner and I would never realistically use these. Is that a bit optimistic for £10 a month on a PAYG SIM?

My PAC arrived in today's post, not long after my earlier post here asking about them.
That's fairly quick considering I cancelled Monday.

Struggling to find a 16Gb 3Gs in stock anywhere though!
