resonably eco estate - 2k max

Now its possible i got hold of something that simply needed all this money spending on it in a very short amount of time but lets not forget all these items will fail sooner or later and i'd expect all the above to go before 120k particually the turbo, if you can find one with all this lot done then go for it, the car can carry huge amounts of stuff, slam the bikes on the roof a boot full of camping stuff and off you go its great for that, thats one of the reason i ended up with mine that plus i wanted to play with a 1.8T.

really? i've never seen one being sold with that on!

Bought mine with 250K on for £700. Only got rid of it because someone smashed all the glass and I didn't have windscreen cover, so went for the cheaper option of a £250 Mk2 Golf (which then got nicked)

I don't care enough about Passats to know the chassis codes.
It was a 1994 L reg, I bought it in 2005 or 2006.

Here is a picture of it

Yes an old B4, please don't buy one of these!

Why? It was the best cheapo workhorse car I've ever owned. I did 5,000 miles a month in that thing while my Subaru was being repaired. It was comfy enough, drove well, reliable and it really irritated the local Saxo brigade when they tried to get past me using the right turn only lane at traffic lights only to find out I could out accelerate them.

Only if your local chavs drive 1.1 saxos but then my washing machine would beat one of those off the line.

Very Slow, poor build quality, no toys, really horrid place to sit.

Worth spending the extra and getting a late B5 estate, B5.5 is out of his pricerange in derv form.

my aim would be as new and as lower mileage as i can get......toys would be good too. Like i said, i'm a fan of the TDi's....i had the 1.9 in my 03 A3 and it took 118k of abuse from me in 3 years.....never missed a beat

Don't worry much about mileage on a 1.9tdi, as long as it's got a full service history and PD oil has always been used then it'll be fine.
If you look at one in the 150k+ area then give the steering and suspension particularly a good check.
