£1000??...yeh right...ive looked on ebay myself and ive seen them being sold for around £300:confused: Unless they are made out of solid gold or something silly like that.

Not saying that your wrong but anyone who pays £1000 for a Storm needs their head checking...the ones ive seen are unlocked but still have the vodafone branding on them...BB's arent easy to de-brand as the software used is illegal and it could end up bricking the phone if you get it wrong etc.

I had one from Voda back in Dec and sent it back within 4 days as i didnt like it one single bit...the software was too buggy for my liking and it wasnt as polished as i would have liked it to be. Saying that it was pretty well built i thought but it was rushed and the touchscreen was neat innovation ie the clickscreen.

Personally i prefer my Bold over it, QWERTY keyboard makes life much more easier to type on etc. Plus its far more stable.

The Storm 2 will hopefully be a different proposition. Looks gorgeous and has everything in the specs that a decent handset should have these days.

Hopefully if they get the software right BB might have a winner of a touchscreen device...

They're awful. One of our users ordered one specially, after 5 secs of using it said he didn't want it and now we can't even give it away lol

Worst phone purchasing decision I ever made getting the Storm. After about three weeks of ownership, the headphone socket broke - it was a loose connection. I called up Vodafone for a replacement, they would only repair it. I sent it in - and the morons simply flashed it with the latest firmware...which it already had!!!

I figured I could do without the headphone socket when it was returned - but it died properly a few weeks later. I complained but Vodafone wouldn't swap it out for new , or another BB as I had lost confidence with it. They organised another repair, and the bag never arrived. Further complaints from me were ignored, and I've given up wasting time calling them or going through their web support portal.

In short, Vodafone must know the Storm is a pile of carp, and really don't know what to do about it. I am shocked how bad their customer services are though. I ended up buying an 8900 SIM free, and as soon as the Voda contract is up I'll be kissing goodbye to Vodafone for good.

Even when the phone was running, it was so frustrating to use due to the lag (despite being on the latest software from Crackberry (Vodafone were so far behind in their official software releases it was a joke!)

Summary : avoid. (Both the Storm and Vodafone).

^^ yup... i've seen them go on auctions for as low as 130... i have played with it in vodafone shop and hated it... the touch screen is soooo wrong with the click bit... :/

I just bought one for £180 brand new and have to say I'm enjoying it so far. Still struggling with setting up email etc but that's because I'm new to the world of BlackBerry and haven't got me head around how it's setup and works.

When it first came out it was reallllllllllllllly bad. a lot of complaints from everyone. RIM released a few serious updates to address the issues, and its supposed to have imporved a lot.

You can get the latest firmware from Blackberry:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=06997F04A7DB92466A2BAA6EBC8B872D

If yours is branded (vodafone, t-mobile etc) you need to delete the vendor.xml file located in

c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

If its not branded it should update without deleting that file.

Thats all well and good but if you download an official firmware update say from Vodafone or Verizon as those are the 2 main carriers that carry the Storm...then you definitely need to delete the vendor.xml file.

I have an unlocked unbranded Bold myself and im running the latest Rogers 282 firmware on it but i still needed to delete the vendor.xml file.

Your best place to find out info about updating firmwares ie instructions etc and also the latest official firmwares is www.crackberry.com.
