Hi All, now I've built my new system I have to get to grip with this newfangled Vista. Everything is working Ok except that I have a couple of issues with migrating apps and data from the old XP box.

Individual accounts don't seem to have their own desktop. In XP I used to able to change each users desktop icons within explorer. In Vista, any apps installed create icons on all desktops. Deleteing or adding a shortcut on one desktop affects all of them, no matter which account I have logged in as, Admin or not. How do I create personalised desktops in Vista ?

When migrating the kids games, how do I ensure that I bring across all their achievments and saved data ? Last night I re-installed FIFA 07 for example, and copied across his saved profile and data from his documents folder in XP to the same folder under his account in Vista. When the game is launched, however, it doesn't seem to see the saved profile...

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Account's desktops are completely personalised in my installations. Maybe you're doing something wrong.

I've copied saved games from xp to vista, and they work fine. You're probably copying them to the wrong location. A good idea would be to create a new savegame, then find where it is and replace it with the old one.

+1 This is the easiest way to make sure the game saves work properly as not all games especially older games use the default "game save" directory.

As for the desktop problem that is an odd one as I can change what ever I want on my admin and it wont effect the guest user

Sorry i couldn't be any more help.

Thanks

Thanks for the help. The game save is the best option then.
I'll keep trying with the desktops...
