hi all,

i have a hx520w corsair and i just wondered how i connect it up.

i got a xxx xfx 4890 and it has a 6 and 8 pin plug.

there is an 8 pin hard wired to the psu but is that for the gfx card or is that for mothboards.

I only have 2 modular 6 pins and no modular 8 pin which is why i dont know if its the hard wires 8 pin i need to use.

can you please help thanks

my hx520 came with 2 modular pci-e cables that had 6pin plug and a separate 2 pin plug at the gfx card end. I took it you could use it for 6 pin socket or combine the plugs for a 8 pin socket.

The hard wired 8 pin plug is for motherboards that use 8pin instead of 4.

seems my pci-e cables only have the 6 pin on them, maybe mine is an early model?

To be honest I just did a 94 mile round trip to collect my XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card...only to get home to find that me PSU has two 6 pin connectors....not happy to say the least.

Not OC fault I know....but I would like to think that we could be advised that we may need the 8 pin adaptor, just had to order it and it should be here on Friday.

I usually do hours of research and spend days trying to make a decision before I buy any hardware. Including un-boxing videos so I know exactly what I will get.
