HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

OK I just went on the Android Market website and typed in a few of the Top Paid apps into my phone. It found a few but here are some it did not find.

Bloo
MyBackup Pro
Nesoid
Tangram Pro

It finds Lite versions of some of them, but the paid versions don't seem to be there.

Can't find any of those either. Hmm let's hope they sort that out. I've got the orange phone but using an o2 sim.

:p

T-Mobile often rename phones for some reason, I think the Magic is the G1 and the Hero is the G2? I may be wrong.

guess he didn't get it :)

yes you are right about the htc hero being the t-mobile g2, its the htc dream that's the t-mobile g1. magic is/will be the mytouch 3g(or something to that effect).

subliminal for orange you want the htc hero, if you say g2 then the orange cs guy/girl you speak to might not know what you're talking about and tell you they don't do it.

It's more likelz the hTC's fault, they have notoriously bad reception, people at XDA are reporting the same thing.

Agreed, I'm on O2 and signal is much worse with this handset compared to my last Sony Ericsson. Its good enough for the moment though, hopefully someone at HTC/XDA will come up with something.

Look what got delivered today :D. YAY

Just rang Orange now and the woman on the phone said I would have to pay £97.50 to get the phone on either Dolphin 25 or 35, gonna give them a ring back later and say I can get it free on T-Mobile and see what they say.

They told me that then I rang back and got somebody else and he offered it me free straight off, no need to haggle so just keep trying!

And on the signal issues people are having, I've had T-Mobile, Vodafone and Orange this year and I've found that although my Hero sometimes only shows 2 bars of signal or so it's noticably quicker than when I was on other networks. I can take the tram into town without the internet slowing down or cutting out once, which never happened on T-Mobile or Vodafone.

Just rang retentions asking how much it would be to disconnect, they offered me the phone still for £97.50 but with 200 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £22.50pm, that seems alright but I'm gonna give them another ring tomorrow now when I get paid to see if I can get them down on the handset price.

I found even if I have and E it still seems to be pretty quick, on the connection side. The market place flew and the whole time its showed and E with 1 bar.

And no it was not picking up a wifi

Is this on upgrade? Also, what length of contract are they offering you? Thanks.

Anyone seen this deal today? -

hotukdeals.com/item/449518/htc-hero-t-mobile-12-month-contract/

The website it links to I can't say I have heard of before, but they are also offering it on Vodafone as well. Presumably these are just packages that this company have made up themselves, as I've not seen anything about the Hero on Voda yet.

As a side note, I'm seriously tempted now by those prices, especially on a 12 month contract - but I've never been with T-Mobile and the only people I know who've had T-Mobile have said it's been awful... Anyone have better experiences on T?

Edit - better to look on mobiles.co.uk I think, similar deals and quidco! Just have to decide whether to take the plunge now :)

I was extremely worried this morning when I checked my Orange account. I logged in to see how much data I used yesterday and the graphical bar that shows data usage was about 1/5 - 1/4 the way up, which would mean I used over 100Mb yesterday alone! I thought that perhaps the Hero uses silly amounts of data 'on it's own' updating weather, checking emails and the likes of facebook etc.

I was panicking like mad until I saw in brackets (pro-rata). As I'd signed up 3 days before the end of the month I'd only been given 66Mb to use :p

Panic off...
