Can anyone suggest if Transformers 2 is OK for a young lad? He's seen the first one and enjoyed it...

Honestly I'd say no. Sex appeal in this one was amped up a bit too much for young children if you ask me. Also I know it's only robots, but the violence in this one did seem a little more adult than the first (spoiler example: one Transformer saying to a Decepticon "Give me your face", then proceeding to pulling off said robots face).

It's largely your call, does your son get scared by violence between "unreal" characters? as Zombie said the fighting in this movie is a little more dramatic than the first one with a lot more violence between the robots.

It's also incredibly long.

Personaly I would say wait till you can watch it at home, should only be a few months.

I found it to sexualised tbh. Im not particuarly bothered usually, but i thought it was to "open" for my brothers.

I still cringe at the bit in the first transformers when he talks about ****ing. At that point my mum walked in to see the movie....

:( :D

Most of the sexual overtones would go straight over a 6 year olds head anyway. But at 2.5 hours long he'll probably be fidgitting.
AS said, your call, but i would also recommend waiting for the dvd/sky release.

I thought it was about the same length/running time as the first one?

OK... I'll give it a miss and watch it at home...

Reviews have been pretty poor too TBH!

I just thought they could have made more of a story instead of concentrating on loads of big robots and loads of tiny ones, whats that all about! I know its transformers but still!

Its not suitable for anyone. Lets make two robots who resemble Kenan and Kel  We have Megan Fox in our movie, everyone is obsessed with her so lets show her in skimpy clothes running lots in slow motion. Actually throw in a leaning over a motorbike in hotpants scene, all mechanics do that right?

In all seriousness though might i suggest having a read through this and make your mind up, its a rather extensive perental guide :)

From the reviews I've read his comments seem bang on... rather than an assault on the senses, it's more an insult...

ie: OK, it's a film about a bunch of robots blah blah blah, but there's no reason for it to not have some amount of intelligence to it...

I would be far more concerned about the violence of the film rather than its sexual content. My daughter is 7 and the odd time she catches a bit of Eastenders theres far more going on in that offers the potential for the odd awkward question.

She insisted on going to watch TF2 because a friend of hers was also going that night. I did try to explain that it wasn't quite the same as watching Hannah Montana but she was having none of it.

I think she enjoyed TF2 more than me. I just sat there mentally waving a fist at whoever thought giving the TF franchise to Micheal Bay would be a good idea!

I'd say the length of the film is the only issue. I found it bad enough sitting still for 2 1/2 hours, let alone a 6 year old doing the same!
