best way period.... tried and tested by me using MANY diff methods this is the best.... make sure you fill in the small gaps between the heatpipes and base with thermal paste use ur finger (make sure its clean first and use very small amount to fill in the gaps).... then place thermal paste as it is in the picture to the heatsink and place heatsink on cpu (DO NOT put any paste on the cpu)

[edit] sry for topic typo..

as soon as u have put it on the titan heatsink block, do u spread it around or do u put it on the CPU straight away and let the pressing force spread the TIM around?

no you dont spread it out you place it on the cpu directly from above lining up with the screw holes and apply firm pressue with hand (not excessive) and then do up the screws evenly at a time my this is automatically spreads it out. cores never get hotter than 77oc under several hours of prime 95 and intel burn test

cos under its own pressure it makes the best and thinnest contact with you fingers the paste will not be as uniform as it would be spread under its own pressure no matter how thin or streight you make it... a good example of this is get two pieces of see through flat plastic first spread toothpaste on one using fingers and then sandwitch the two platics and press down and then on another pair of clean plastic put the toothpaste as a blob in the centre of the plastic without spreading it out allow it to spreadout under its pressure and u will see you get much more uniform spread (mirror affect with thermal paste)

I agree the H50 is far superior to the Fenrir, mine was crap, fins are too easily bent and cant fit a second fan for push pull without some diy. My temps were in the 80's and idle temps are diabolical. My Fenrir is now in the bin.

thats just sad why would you throw something away lol im using the titan and i have a true extream im not gonna throw my titan away lol sell it the most and on mine the temp never goes above 77oc and on idal right now the temps are on all 4 cores in the region of the high 37 38oc mark....
