I see my mobo (in sig) has updated Audio drivers for:

Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver)

Do you have to uninstall the existing drivers (like with graphics cards) or can you install the new drivers over the old ones?

Thanks.

Also, when I tried to update them through windows Vista told me that they were already up to date even though the driver is dated 2006 and the new ones are 2009

Windows update said they are up to date because windows update is out of date (as always). Never use windows update for "updating" drivers its a waste of time.

Just install over them.

When you install realtek audio drivers you have to run the install program twice the first time it deletes the old driver and you have to restart the second time it installs the new driver.
