Does anyone know how to get this to work? I googled and it seems that everyone at least gets it to the main menu without encountering any issues (which can be solved), but I can't even get that far. I double click the shortcut and nothing. The process opens in the task manager but thats as far as it goes :(, even when I set compatibilty to 98 and try to run as admin etc... it just flat out won't work!

I really want to play this again as it's an amazing game, what can I try?

I recently got this to work in windows 7. Its still not perfect but a lot better than what id previously managed, it doesnt seem to crash as often. Id recommend looking up the quicksave shortcut, accessing the menu sometimes causes the game to crash.

In-game settings:
run in 800x600 (this one seems to be the most important)
disable video/sound hardware acceleration

For windows:
windows 98 compatibility
run as administrator
disable themes/composition

It doesn't even start or can you get it load into the main menu?
Have you tried applying the latest patch (v1.7)

Doesn't start at all :(. I downloaded the pack with 1.7 pre installed and cd protection stuff removed (fine because it's abandonware), which seems to work fine for everyone else . I just see the "busy" cursor whir up for a few seconds and then the dk2 process just sits in the task manager doing nothing

I did a test on mine, disabled all the changes i made to the icon, and the game didn't launch, just flashed black for a few seconds.

Changed the compatibility mode back to windows 98/me and it worked again.

Seems to be a lot of folks having problems with DKII with newer operating systems, might want to give google a go if all else fails. Thats how i got mine working eventually.

Heres one page that has some different directions: http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/2820/t1394451-dungeon-keeper-2-how-to-run-under-xp-vista-win7/
