Cancel your Orange contract now!

Just called up, said I couldn't cancel as I haven't received the text yet. He then offered to take £10 of my contract which I accepted, although I'll still probably cancel it once I receive the text.

Just phoned up. He said I couldn't cancel as my contract isn't up until Jan 2010 I said I wish to cancel now because the terms and conditions have changed, I told him I had the message on the 21st. He asked if I go over my minutes I said no but could be in the future. He is sending me a pay as you go sim within 25 days. Oh well that was fairly easy.

You've just accepted a change to your contract though - the £10 is an offer intead of cancellation. You can no longer cancel.

Forgive the noob question here but if I did this would I get to keep the phone that came with the contract? If so would I have problems switching to say O2 and sticking another sim in it?

Can you still keep your same number if you break the contract? Even if you sign up with Orange again?

I want to get a smart phone but can't for 6 months, but have to keep the same number.

well just phoned and asked to be switched to payg, said I'll get my sim within 30days.

decided not to go with the pac and switch to o2 simplicity for now, what's the usual cashback through quidco on the 12month simplicity 20?

edit: anyone on here wanting to buy a used htc touch hd(6-7months old)? ;)

Actually no, the person I spoke said specifically that I couldn't cancel my contract as I hadn't received the text yet. I asked why does it matter that I haven't received the text to which he responded that there might not be any changes to my price plan. If indeed it does turn out that I do receive the text and there are changes to my price plan this is completely new information to me and I can therefore cancel the contract as stated in the T&Cs.

Also at no point in the phone call was I offered a £10 reduction "instead" of cancelling my contact.

So which network are people planning on going to that doesn't make minimum out of bundle call charges...

Gah I can't decide if this is worth it or not. I'm 7 months into a 24 month Dolphin 20 contract with my C905. If I cancel this and switch to O2 Simplicity will it mean when that expires I won't be able to negotiate a new handset with O2 at the end of that? This is my first contract so I have no experience of what happens at the end of a contract with regards to negotiating a new deal/handset upgrade.

Reading what it says on the o2 site, you get an upgrade after 9months. don't know in terms of handset etc that you can get.

I think you can guarantee that you will be able to negotiate a new handset. If you're not convinced that cancelling is the right option, then at the very least negotiate a more favourable deal, bearing in mind that you will get a minimum of £80 for your existing mobile (Mazuma) and probably more if you sell it on fleabay.

As long as the new deal exceeds the sale of your mobile, then you are in profit.

if i cancel i dont have to pay for my HTC touch hd? thats like getting a free phone then i can get an O2 roaming pack. Though my contract is pritty good mmm.

I had to pay ~£175 when I upgraded to the touch hd tho got £130 back on my 1st bill(so ~£45 for the phone), it's been 7months so it's been total of ~£250 or so. could get all that back if I sold it, tho never sold anything on ebay.

if you got the touch hd through orange then under their t&c you don't have to send it back or pay anything if you cancle, if on the other hand you got it through mobiles.co.uk etc that's another cattle of fish with their t&c.
