*** Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen Monitor @ £199.97 ***

Haha, legends :)

You would think the guy at dell could have told me that :P

edit: Dell cant find anything based on the order number, overclockers wont give out the number i need, so as it stands, i have a monitor and no warranty, let alone 3 year.

Thats some poor service from dell ;(

when u gave out the serial number didnt that work with dell ?

id try it on the dell website and try thru there...

Yeh, when i gave them it, they couldnt find it. Actually dell were very helpful, the guy phoned up overclockers for me to try and sort it out, but im still stuck piggy in the middle at the moment.

slackworth

Anymore news on there philips monitors? Have been doing a little digging around and may have come across a bit of a steal. . . .
Would prefer to buy from here to go with mobo i7 n stuff you guys shipped to me today.
Only monitor holding me back at moment, hp on a deal would be best but any ips / pva will do.

I find this the most frustrating monitor ive ever owned.

I changed from the PVA DGM 24" - I cant get the gamma correct in windows, but sometimes in games the clarity and colour blows me away. I wouldnt mind seeing peoples desktop taken with a camera to judge how theres is compared to mine.

Overall i find it too dark and ill probably go back to my DGM even though the bezel is uglier than a red haired child, i chucked my box for the 22" away so i cant return it under DSR, i might see if Dell will swap it, i cant believe that people were raving about it and this is what they were raving about.

Sorry, totally disagree with you there. I didn't feel the need to mess about with the settings as the defaults were fine. Most of the reviews I read on it said leave the settings at default too and I'd agree.

I think you misunderstand suarve.

I seem to think that the monitor is faulty, and thats why i cant believe that people would be raving about what i am seeing.

Its getting swapped.

I dont know if its mentioned here, but i found today how to run it at native res at 75hz, which is the first time ive seen an LCD able to do this :)

I dont know wether its me (probably is Ive got sensitive eyes), but I just cant get used to this monitor.

This is my first LCD monitor btw.

It seems asthough its flickering really fast and giving me eye strain. The white text on these forums for instance seems to be particularly dazzling. turning the contrast and brightness down helps a little bit, but Im still getting eye strain. I find Im constantly moving my head to focus on the text  does this sound familiar to anyone?

just wonder if its the 60Hz, would I be better going to a 120Hz? I've read differing opinions on wether it actually makes a difference.

Thanks for that doiks14, but I think I know whats wrong.

Its the anti-aliasing of the font, my eyes cant seem to get a grip of the words. When I was using my old CRT the text was really sharp and jagged and I prefer it like that.

at the moment, Im struggling to read the words because it seems out of focus.

Is this just an LCD thing or can it be turned off somehow?

Ensure you are running the monitor's native resolution. If your're running either Vista or Windows 7 then it will be the ClearType features causing the AA on text. Just load up control panel and type cleartype into the search box in that window and it will narrow down the applet to tune/disable Cleartype.

Just got one of these and must say its really nice coming from an old samsung 19" TN. Got one red stuck pixel though and the panel is making a buzzing noise can't hear it unless I put my ear to the top back part of the panel, is this normal? going to give dell a call and see what they can do about a replacement perhaps.

I hope you have better luck than me, both Dell and Overclockers werent interested, im still stuck with my monitor 2 weeks later despite filling in webnotes and what not.

Dell couldnt find serial number and said without that matching on their system, there is no warranty, let alone a three year one.
