I sold something on eBay and the buyer says it doesn't work. What shall I do?

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I think it fits in right here.

I sold a Canon printer to someone recently, and got this message today:

Dear Sir, Having recieved the printer on friday afternoon, i had my computer man come and set it up for me but i'm afraid it dosn't work properly.It only prints in Black and none of the colours work. My Computer man thinks that according to the Printer Test Sheet inside the box, is was done on the 22-12-2008 and the head has become blocked thriugh the length of time it has been standing around, He has tried doing the deep cleaning several times and also put a new set of Cartridges in as well, but still there is no colour coming out.So please could you tell me how i can send this back to you and to get a full refund including the returned postage.

The printer was refurbished by Canon.. I have one myself and the box contains a brand new unopened printhead/cartridges. I'm thinking how can the colour be blocked if the printhead is new.. :confused:

On my listing, it mentioned that I don't accept returns.. the printer is still in warranty so I could get Canon to send a replacement.

I think returns if faulty are allowed. Otherwise eveyone would just flog their broken stuff on there.

It's your word against his. Send him the warranty information and see if he is happy to sort it out himself.

Yes, how did it go? i have a few ebayed items and i am praying i don't get a total idiot buying them

because it's the last thing we all need is hassle!

i don't sell a lot but when i did i restricted bidders to those over a reasonable feedback figure with no neg feedback. Helps to sort out the messrs. Usually.

Also if a private sale in good faith then i usually stipulate no warranty or fitness for purpose implied or given. Caveat empor. Ebay was great, prefer the local rag nowadays.

No word since the case was closed, no feedback given or received still. The other 3850 seller has no feedback from the buyer either.

No letters in the post, no emails, have no clue what was going on in paypal. So no idea. Lookin good so far tho.

Please update if anything happens. The guy sounds seriously dodgy and especially how he didnt even attempt to send it back after you mentioned the serial.
