Hype thats gets you 'going' ;)

Definetly those halo 3 and gears of war 1 trailers are some of the best I've seen, it's evident lots of time and money has been spent on them.

I like the sound of the battle rifle in that halo 2, sounds really powerful.

Halo 3 vid got me excited. So did the too human vid. That was a let down.

GTA IV really had me going, lately though it has to be MW2. So excited for that. I can already feel my addiction brewing

Hype gets me everytime I'm afraid. I like to pretend it doesn't, and that I'm above it, but that would be a lie. The problem is that, in my experience, hype almost always = disappointment. Games NEVER live up to hype. The key is to look into games but without hyping them up to yourselves and others. I say that but I still fall for it even now and recent examples for me include:

Arma2 (For me, this actually did live up to the hype but the hype was limited)
Killzone 2 (Fail)
Gears of War 2 (Fail)
Vegas 2 (lol, fail)
GTA IV (def didn't live up to hype but still great)
Halo 3 (Sorta lived up to the hype but I didn't like it all the same)

Hype wise, I'm starting to get that feel for MW2 now (although am trying to just ignore the urge to find out every bit of info I can about it) and am also finding myself thinking about the possibilities of MAG. The problem nowadays is that hype tends to be community generated and even without glossy adverts gamers can fall for it. This happened with me and Killing Floor on the PC.

Being a counter strike junkie, when I first seen the cs source trailer, I think I wet myself;

Ignore the weapon textures (work in progress) :p

They are always having issues with putting the gun on the right side of the screen.

At least it's technically accurate; the bullet ejection chamber is on the correct side which means they deliberately made it left handed. Right-handed option for CS merely mirrors the gun, which makes the chamber on the wrong side!

I know it's a small thing :p

Yeah, but put the gun on the right side in the first place and do accurate models for that :p

Mostly because I've been a massive fan of the series for a while now, and because this video just came from nowhere for me. Just sprouted up on the web one day from the abyss!

That trailer (whilst cinematic) just shows how crap MW games are. I agree that when MW games first game out they were fun to play as they were different and we were just getting into proper 3D gaming. Having an open battlefield was fresh and new. Today it is not.

But lets face it, that trailer is nothing more than the same old gameplay of the original titles but we have moved far beyond that boring game play.

You are stuck with a massive, slow, clunky robot. Yes, it may be massive, but....what's the point? It's slow and clunky and as shown in the trailer, the game consists of spotting the enemy first and getting the first shot in. The game then moves on to simple sidestepping to avoid incoming attacks whilst you time your attacks during the sidesteps to make your shot. You can't even make a run for it, you'll be owned!

Can you imagine the multiplayer! Walk, see enemy, hold trigger to sidestep left or right, press button when crosshair is on enemy. Yawn!

However, you have posted a good hype trailer. It does exactly what it's supposed to and will sell a game, regardless of how good it actually is.
