I was mugged

It would be if the situation wasn't so serious. I have seen people beaten to within an inch of their lives for not much more than a few quid.

Is it wrong that I laughed at that ? :/

I didn't mean the mugging was funny lol, just the way people now tend to mention stuff on the net rather than the authorities

Funny, anyway i just reported it.

good

hmm... the plot thickens.....

Why? - My 12 year old daughter is on contract....

O.P. Sorry to hear about this, report it - its the only way the Police will ever react to a crime, or a series of ones (I doubt your their only recent victim).

I've had some hassle in London over the years, I guess being a large trucker tends to keep the muggers at bay for me fortunately.....

Most certainly one of my mates was hit round the head with a baseball bat for a few quid. Ended up in a comma for a few days. And though technically fine. He is not right in the head any-more and is a heavy cannabis users as a result.

I am quite taken aback when a textbook street robbery is reported on an internet forum not long after it happened and not the police.

does it not suggest that some people put very little faith in the current state of the police force?

when i was at school me and a mate were walking home and we were set about by 4 or 5 guys from the group above, no idea why, neither of us were well off, didn't have any expensive gadgets or anything, they just felt like it, my mate ended up with a split lip and a black eye, i avoided injury.

we reported this to the police, we were told they've be up withing 2 days to take a statement, they never came, we knew the guys by name and face, we also reported it to the school, nothing was done, and you wonder why people will more readily make a post on a forum or facebook than bothering to contact the fairly lackadaisical authorities?

edit: i'm not getting at you by the way :)

Not reporting things like this is what makes the police think they're doing a good job, it shows a drop in crime which is good for them but bad for everyone else. report it no matter how small you think it is

+1.

A crime is a crime. If anything can be done to get these scum bags off the streets then it's worth the effort.

sorry to hear you got mugged.

good lad :) police should be interested, that area has some serious cctv network. hopefully you described them well, a gang would be much easier to spot.

good reason to take up some self-defence/martial art classes now :)

I'm not so sure with you J. You hhave a strange sense of humour sometimes. ;)

I think maybe I'm a bit too dry and it's hard to convey on the net so sometimes it can be taken seriously or people get the wrong end of the stick.
Generally it's not the incident itself I find funny, it's the circumstances around it or the silly things people say or do so I make fun of that all in jest of course. Anyways i'm going off topic so i'll shut up :)

How did he end up heavily using cannabis as a result of that?

Hey guys,

The only mistake the OP made was to post here, before reporting to the police.

How many of you have actually been mugged? It's not funny believe me.

You have four or five people beating on you, you'll soon give them what they're asking for unless you are stupid, doesn't matter how "hard" you are.

I can't believe some of the responses here.

panic attacks and other such conditions. Which cannabis sorts out. But then heavy cannabis use leads to it's own mental problems.

Cannabis is not something I'd advise for somebody prone to panic attacks..... (Not that I'm some kind of Doctor mind you!)

That will undoubtedly be the case in some instances.

Bad service vincent and certainly not the way I do business and I will give you two reasons why.

First and foremost. It is what the public pay me to do.

Secondly, I would not like such bad service if I was the victim so why would I in turn give bad service ?

I have had one complaint in 9 years service and it was a victim of crime that made it. I cannot go into detail for obvious reasons but the accusation was baseless, untrue and I took it personally although I know I shouldn't.

I was investigated by PS and the accusation went nowhere as it was untrue and the deputy chief rightly dismissed it.

In short, it is scandalous when police do not investigate crimes properly and a complaints system is in place to address such things.

I am not perfect by a long way but I do what the public and my personal ethics demand. ie do what I am paid to do.

I believe you .... thousands wouldn't. ;)
