Glad you've still got your phone.
A lot of people get mugged with knifes and guns around here. I'd say less than 5% of the ones I know about have been reported to the police.
You know more than 20 people who have been mugged? I hope that for your sake that you are exaggerating! How depressing if true...

Yeah, I've been mugged three times myself. Twice with no weapons, where they didn't get anything at all, and once with a weapon, where I gave my phone up instantly.
The joy of East London I guess! Had a wander around there (can't remember what for though!) when I was down in London not long ago, area around Manor House tube station, few of the side streets looked very dodgy

That will undoubtedly be the case in some instances.
Bad service vincent and certainly not the way I do business and I will give you two reasons why.
First and foremost. It is what the public pay me to do.
Secondly, I would not like such bad service if I was the victim so why would I in turn give bad service ?
I have had one complaint in 9 years service and it was a victim of crime that made it. I cannot go into detail for obvious reasons but the accusation was baseless, untrue and I took it personally although I know I shouldn't.
I was investigated by PS and the accusation went nowhere as it was untrue and the deputy chief rightly dismissed it.
In short, it is scandalous when police do not investigate crimes properly and a complaints system is in place to address such things.
I am not perfect by a long way but I do what the public and my personal ethics demand. ie do what I am paid to do.
I believe you .... thousands wouldn't.
thanks for the reply, i accept that what happened to me and my friend was not the norm and i've had some good dealings with the police to make it up, obviously, via the media or even personal experience the views of the public have been tarnished in regards to the police force, certainly cut backs and lack of staffing is i'm sure a major problem and you do your best to make up for that.

Always report stuff. At my old place so many cars got broken into they placed traps out (cars with cameras on) and arrested a couple of people. After that the number of broken cars reduced by a massive %. So although they didn't solve any of the previous crimes,by reporting it. They could find the hot spots and do something about it.

Sorry, i was still in shock after they ran away and still am. First time i have been approached by anyone and the fact that it was in daylight with people passing by.

It certainly riles me when banks are bailed out to the tune of hundreds of billions, wars are funded in Afghanistan ( I back the troops 100% though I have to say ), and police forces are told to cutback due to budgetary constraints.
We seem to have our priorities wrong in this country sometimes.

3 is that it 5 times here but only 2 times they took some stuff from me (in me younger days). the other ocassions i fought back, knowing how to defend myself after years of training in martial arts. this is 34 years living in london.

A few guys tried mugging me and a friend about 2 years ago. I had a PS2 in my backpack at the time but they ended up leaving empty handed, a few punches were exchanged and I ended up with a couple of cuts/bruises on my face.
Police came to take a statement and despite giving a very good description and such, the police said they would be in touch and they never so much as phoned us since.
IMO it's better just to take it on the chin and leave Police out of it, isn't worth the hassle.

i completely and utterly 100% agree, especially in regard to Afghanistan, the money wasted their for no gain is ridiculous, and it wouldn't be as bad if it were spent on equipment that the soldiers want and need to get the job done.
we should be working out our own problems first, labour can see their is a problem so i can't quite understand why, when their usual tactic is to throw money at problems arse over fist they instead are choosing to make cutbacks? essential public services, fire, NHS, police et al should be the last organisations to receive spending cuts.

I don't agree with it and it's messed him up even more. would have been much better with proper support which he didn't seem to get and counselling. Panic and anxiety attacks which cannabis suppressed. Meaning he could live a normal live. But it's certainly messed his head up after must be 15 years of heavy smoking.
.Camden area. Im not to sure about the police now either. Just saw some youths throwing fire extinguishers at building windows...the same ones we reported a few days back after they broke some car windows with the fire extinguisher, yet the police never arrived.
