How to cook yolk in egg?

Whilst I agree that our bodies are designed to eat meat as well as veggies, it's a ridiculous statement stating that it's not feasible to be vegetarian is daft. Many many tribes were vegetarians and yet still evolved so I don't see your point. I'm very much a meat eater, but I will not accept that non meat eaters are "stupid". I do concur though that they in general may not get the same level of nutrition in their diets, but that's easily rectified by a balanced diet even without meat and adding a few non meat supps too.
I clarified that it is a stupid decision, and a step backwards. I am sure you can disagree with me that vegetarianism a stupid decision to make, but that it is a step backwards is pretty much indisputable.

How is it a step backwards? Did you miss the bit where Freefaller pointed out that it's just as possible to have a healthy well-rounded diet as a veggie these days as it is to be a meat eater?

I dunno, i just wont trust anyone who wont sink their teeth into a nice steak ;]

How can it be a step backwards name one thing that you can get from meat that vegetarians can't get.

and don't say the satisfaction of eating a dead lifeform :o

Thanks to you all for your helpful posts, every post in this thread has made a difference :)

I have compiled what I reckon will give me a nice bit of protein every day:
2-3 eggs a day 10-15g
50g almonds 10g
50g pistachio 10g
30g protein shake 25g
100g cheddar 30g
500ml milk 15g
Bowl of oatmeal/porridge 10g

Total around 110g + will get around another 10g per day fromeverything else, like beans and other vegetables.

That would be pretty good, and it should get me going.

FF, thanks for the linky, but I'm a little concerned at the amount of shakes and supplements the guy has put in there, at my age, I don't think it's necessary :(

No it's not necessary at all - it was just to prove that you can get a lot of protein in spite of being a veggie. You certainly do not need 340g not at all. It was merely for information. Don't waste your money on shakes - but there are a lot of viable alternatives.

There are lots of very very big BBs out there who don't eat meat.

I myself couldn't deal with not having a nice blue steak to bite into - but general tarring of a brush is daft.

the body :)

it can produce creatine from amino acids

also I could get a creatine shake if I was really deficient

our bodies don't create enough on their own though. Especially if you are trying to grow, hence why supplementation is advised to vegetarians.
So there is one thing for you.

Because we have evolved to be meat eaters and farmers of livestock over tens of thousands of years.

Where do you get your iron from?

Peas have actually got quite a lot of iron in them, as do broccoli and spinach.

On a personal level I think I would miss meat too much to be a vegetarian. The only meal I tend to eat without meat is breakfast and even then I miss it :(

I do think there is a stigma which tends to suggest that vegetarians are undernurished, which in some cases could be true, but it seems to me that due to this being a worry for them that the vast majority of vegetarians ensure that they get everything they need. Where as many meat eaters seem rather blasé about their diets. So realistically speaking (perhaps not in body-building terms but for joe public) a vegetarian diet could be the healthier option as they are forced to think more about what they eat. Although if the average joe would just think about what they ate and planned it better this would no longer be a factor.

I also have to question the argument that vegetarianism is taking a step back in evolution, how do you know that it is not the next step? :p

That's a lot to gain especially since you haven't been eating that much protein. How much of that are you estimating to be lean mass?

Not sure, but thinking about it, I have started drinking a huge amount of water, so it might not be that much in actual fact, a lot of it could be due to fluctuations in water level.
