Looking at remapping my 1.9 fr150 mk1 leon, and I know a couple of you on here have done the same

Couple of Q's to the guys that have done it on here if you don't mind;

- Total VAG said I don't need to change/uprate the clutch but everything I've read over seatcupra.net recommends uprating the clutch or at least fitting the clutch plate (motor has done ~50k on the current clutch). Did you guys change/uprate/fit plate when remapping?

- Anything else need changing/uprating if I remap?

- Worth it? ;)

The cars already got a full Milltek system on it (I got it for £100 quid :D) and am sorely tempted by a remap.

Cheers as usual

Haven't had mine mapped, but personally I'd get a new clutch at the same time or at least have a bit of money stashed away just in case.

There are people on SCN who have ran mapped cars for thousands of miles on a standard clutch, but others slip after a few hundred miles..

It seems to be down to luck :(

oh, and the passenger rides in mapped leons have shown to me that it is worth it!! Mine has made 170 and 178bhp though with just a piperRS exhaust so I'm not so sure mine would be worth it for a 10bhp or so gain..

Aye, i have a FR150 55 Plate and i had it remapped with REVO around 2 years ago, after 2 weeks i had the software removed and put back to stock because of clutch slip, i had to write a letter to get it removed and to get a refund. The slip was quite bad and i wouldnt ever do it again tbh the price of anuprated clutch is hurrendous and finding a good place to fit it is also not easy.

Get a custom map and get the torque reduced, or at least something that you can alter if you do it. Personally i didnt find it drastically faster anyway.

i had a pd130 mapped years ago by upsolute, the clutch was on about 120k miles and had no issues, but i did treat the clutch with some sympathy.

as for revo, if their diesel maps are anything like the 20vt ones then its boost spike city in order to make the car feel nippy

Ty for feedback.

Interesting schnipps that you didn't notice it faster, most people on Seatcupra rave about the speed increase. Ideally I really need to go in a remapped Leon to see if its worth it I guess.

Naf ^^ Thats impressive with only an exhaust. Did you decat?

I remapped my old Mk 1 Cupra R that I had from new. I replaced the plastic Bosche dump valve with a Forge 007(?) metal one as they were known to fail.

god knows, theyre all the same to me, i thought they did a hot model and stuck whatever engines were available in it.

eitherway, its a thread about mapping diesels, if a leon cupra r is petrol, that it was a really pointless post

to be fair, the title doesn't state what engine the op was referring to
chill

why is everyone so quick to judge and attack people? :/

instead of saying OMG SARCY COMMENT HOW DARE YOU POST IRRELEVANT INFORMATION IN A THREAD!11123bbq, just say nothing..

saying nothing and having 1 irrelevant post instead of 7 consecutive offtopic nonsensical ones is even better

oh, and THE IRONING!

It is the silenced downpipe and unsilenced cat back that piperRS were doing a cracking deal on before Christmas. That's all I know lol, that and it sounds nice for a diesel lol!

Admittedly the 178.5 figure was on rollers which were giving high figures for eeryone, but the 170 figure was on rollers giving lower figures for everyone so I'm happy with it :)

I tried to be helpful, and you respond not with a polite - 'The 1.9 is diesel, so doesn't have a DV.' response, but an inflammatory one.

Don't lecture me.

it was a genuine question... im sure youll have other cupra bum chums that have put dump valves on diesels. its well BO

on the PD150 engine - All good tuners will tell you that you need do an uprated clutch.

...and the SACHS one that most people go for is not cheap - £400+

However, my friend ran his Golf TDi (PD150) for 30k miles after his remap...... on the standard clutch.

Ty again.

Will call total vag and have a word about the custom code remap options. Could just decat it and leave it at that though as well.

Guys who remapped, did you declare to insurance?
