Hi all,

Last night my partner and I ordered some chicken and pizza from a takeaway. It got delivered, and I started eating the chicken (chicken like you get from kfc - not wings or nuggets) and then I noticed that the meat was pink inside, and not white as should it be when cooked properly.

What would you do in this situation? I just read on the bbc website about some woman and her three year old baby on a life support machine thanks to a fish and chip shop in Wales which supplied her with a complimentary dosage of e.coli.

Should we get legal with them? This is our health we are talking about afterall and they have a duty of care and extreme responsibility in ensuring that their (our) food is cooked properly don't they!?!

Was it bleeding? did it feel cold? did it look a little translucent?

Cooked chicken doesn't always go white

Having just read the best answer here I would say you need to check the texture. Did it look and feel raw or was it just pink? I've certainly eaten small bits of pink chicken before, but it was definitely cooked properly and not raw.

Worth reporting it to your local council's environmental health department for them to investigate imo. Unless you become ill yourselves there's not much more you can do, they'll probably deny any accusations you level at them.

man up! Just take it back if you think its uncooked and get a refund. Sueing over something so trivial is kinda sad. We ain't America, yet.

Especialy if it's on the bone I've found.

'Get legal'?, don't phone the Police or an ambulance chaser.

I assume you've kept a sample. Call you local public health department at your local council. If you're not sure who they are have a look on your council tax bill.

This is assuming the chicken was actually undercooked and not down to the OP's chicken inexperience.

I once returned some chicken to the local Chinese takeaway

The guy asked what was wrong with it

I said "it's rubbery!"

he said "ahh, thank yaw velly much"
