Hey there,
Ordered my bits last week and they have arrived!
This is my spec:

  • AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition
  • Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 Glaciator+ 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
  • Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AMD 770 (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
  • Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
  • OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w Silent SLI Ready Modular Power Supply
  • Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir CPU Cooler
  • Coolermaster Elite 335 Case
  • Sony Optiarc AD-7241S 24x DVD±RW SATA Lightscribe Optical Drive
  • OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 Dual Channel
  • Dell 24" 2409W Monitor

I'm ridiculously excited. Total amateur when it comes to computer building, so im likely to need a fair bit of help, but *fingers crossed*, should be ok.
I will be referring too the guide below for the build:
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/other/144

as well as the thread created by 'benenhausen', which became a bit of an epic, and shows his struggles on a first build:

Here are a few pictures of the kit - all on camera phone im afraid (Bit of a ****-up on my part means the RAM will not be delivered until tomorrow lol):

Anyhoo, might do a little bit of work to the case tonight, but main work will probably start tomorrow.

First Question:
Both my DVD Drive and HD are OEM, which i did know before hand but am not totally prepared for. Could someone please tell me EXACTLY what wires i need to buy, and if i can get them from OCUK (relatively cheaply ;)) . Thank you. Ill take a few pics of the connections:

Cheers Guys

Indeed i shall have to try, argh such a pain, dont even have the stupid stuff yet. Whats my best course of action, post a pleading message on the customer service forum?

Why did you not post your build up before ordering?

I did, but in my naivety i switched the RAM at last minute to try and save some money without checking again :(

Lets hope so :) posted it now. Anyhoo, a bit down-hearted now but will power on never-the-less. I will start looking through the guide mentioned in the first post, see what i can do now.

You can build the system completely without the RAM, its simple to install the RAM at the end of the build. If i was you id crack on building your gaming machine :)

Ah dont tempt me, i think the only way that im going to truely mess this up is my getting too hasty. I have read in places that it can be difficult to install the RAM after the CPU cooler (Fenrir in my case) has been installed? Liking the optimism though :)

hmmm... The titan is a big cooler...

You can still easily mount the PSU on the case and fit the optical drives and hard drives.
