Saw this yesterday, no big loss as I have an Unlimited card, but omfg. Normally like Will Ferrell but this was generally pretty dire :(

Just starting a thread for anyone else to leap in on :)

i watched it with my wife an didnt find it too bad, some good laughs in it but not a film i'd see again in a hurry, didnt feel like i wasted money by seeing it tho which is all that matters to me really lol

Utterly rubbish movie...suffice to say i watched it last week and it wasnt at the cinema;)...pile of steaming dog crap if you ask me...hardly funny and having that Friel chick in it just goes to show how desperate she is to make a name for herself.

The only part i kinda liked was the giant crab that falls through the ground...gets steamed then explodes back up so they have giant crab for food.

Other than that, absolutely dire movie...id give it a 1/10 tbqh.

This film has tanked at the American box office (thank God). I hate Will Ferrell and I hate all of his movies. He's worse than Ben Stiller (who at least has Tropic Thunder and Something About Mary to his name).

Tropic Thunder? Zoolander was miles better.

I don't like Zoolander. Tropic Thunder wasn't amazing but I enjoyed the cinematography and the parody of war & action movies plus the setting, etc.

I hate how most of these comedy movies are shot in general though including Something About Mary. They always look so horrifically bland.

"There's Something About Mary" has a very colourful and punchy palette throughout the film. It might be a lot of things, but visually bland isn't one of them.

Acting wise I do like Ben Stiller's brand of comedy. "Tropic Thunder" was great and I don't think he'll surpass his work in "Zoolander" any time soon.

The one from the "fraternity" of comedy actors that I really can't stand, though, is Adam Sandler. Why on Earth must every one of his comedic characters have some kind of speech impediment or at least two scenes where he wiiiiiinds uppp and talks reaaaalll slow then SHOUTS AT SOMEONE SO IT'S FUNNY!!!

Does it? I found it tiresome to look at after a while.

As you say, its a fraternity (Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughan, Ben Stiller, etc.) which I really hate as its the same bunch of people churning out the same movies that I despise.

Although, whilst most Sandler movies do suck, Happy Gilmore is made of so much win I can forgive the rest of his 'career'.

To be fair, I've seen it a number of times since release and didn't really notice it until I popped the DVD into the Blu Ray player to test the upscaling. First thing I thought was "I don't remember it being this striking."

Lots of primary colours spread around throught, in the end it feels almost like you caught a Disney movie doing unnatural things with a crack-addicted hooker. It isn't on the same eye-searing level of luminosity as something like "Love Actually", but it's one film that a noticable amount of effort has gone into to keep you smiling, both visually and through the sharp (albeit immature) humour.

It works for me, unlike the retch-inducing glibness and faux delight of tripe like "Amelie".

Fair enough. I watched it on FilmFour so maybe that was the reason although other films look good enough on there (well, terrible compared to Blu-Ray i.e. Sin City).

Shopgirl and The Devil Wears Prada have nice visuals if you like those kind of films.

I saw this last week with the missus. Found it was an okay film. Enjoyable for a one time viewing, but doubt I'll want to watch it again.
I wouldn't pay to watch this film tbh.

I watched it last week. Dear God, what a truly terrible film. Will Ferrell was as I expected - dreadful, Anna Friel looked great but couldn't do much with the appallling part she got. The hick-guide was mildly amusing but the monkey-guy made me want to kill a script writer.
My main issue though was the fact that they seemed to have no idea who they were aiming the film at. The general concept of the film was very child-like but then there is a long sequence about drug use more aimed at 20-somethings. In general a real mess of a movie and a fitting addition to Ferrell's "career".

My mate and I saw this, going completely against the grain but found it hilarious. Although Ferrell wasn't the funniest. The tripping scene had us in stitches :D
