Got a interview tommorow, wearing a suit?

Wear the suit and tie. I interview quite a lot of people and am not impressed by people who do not make the effort.

Sounds pretty boring if them not adhering to pointless dress convention is enough to put you on a downer.

The skinny tie is definitely a bad idea. The jacket isn't vital, but would most likely be a good idea.

It's an estate agents, appearance is key.

cant go wrong with a suit but if u cant get a suit jacket then jus smart trousers shirt an matching tie normally works, jus as long as your well presented with combed/styled hair etc

first impressions always matter.

if you can't get a suit, find a jacket that matches
skinny ties are for indie ****s, get a proper tie

Any student who is planning to go for interviews should make the effort to get a nice suit, a couple of smart shirts and a couple of ties, ideally non skinny unless it's a role in a Jam tribute band. Make sure you are well groomed, your clothes are well pressed and creased and your shoes are polished with no holes in the bottom. Having recruited people for many years from office juniors, sales people to senior managers I can tell you without fear of contradiction an interview starts with that first impression and a smart apperance sets things off well.

It's about respect for the role and the process rather than adhearing to some standards of dress to fit in with the masses, a point often missed by those who take the "can't see the point myself", "why should I be the same as everyone else" or the "wouldn't want to work for a company like that who judged me on what I wear".

i didn't think estate agents had the need for qualifications past gcse?

as for advice, follow what has been given.

The only qualities you need to become an estate agent are arrogance, a willingness to shaft anyone and the ability to talk out of your arse all day.

there about the width of the slim end of a normal tie and look crap unless your built like a pencil, even then I wouldnt wear one to an interview

Slightly OTT sweeping statements on 'skinny ties' on here. Sure when people like doherty wear them they look bad but worn with the right type of suit (think a 1960's style grey Sean Connery suit) its a look that is very smart.

You should definately try to find a suit from somewhere, friend or anything...

I sympathise though, I turned up to my Uncles wedding recently and on the morning of the wedding realised I no longer fit into my suit due to lethargy gut.

Skinny ties are very casual, and only for pretencious students.
You simply will not be taken seriously wearing one of those.
