Hey guys, Just a small software query, am building a pc using a base system from OCUK for a colleague at work, who simply wants it with Windows XP and Office 2003 (Its what she uses at work, hates 2007 and will not use that) so I'm trying to find a retail/oem 2nd hand or new copy of 2003, I'm not asking for where to buy it, as I know that anywhere thats given would be a competitor, but does anyone have any ideas on what I'd be looking to have to pay? All she really needs is basic office, just Word, and maybe Powerpoint and Excel one day, nothing major.

Any ideas on what I'd be looking to pay out in the big blue yonder, as I'm trying to keep the price down for her so don't wanna pay over the odds.

Cheers

Would she not consider Open Office HERE

but i did have a look on a well known auction site and found a new copy of office 2003 bussiness OEM for £25.

Or could have an ask on the Members market, see if someone has it they and are will to sell. :)

I bought Microsoft Office 2003 Pro (OEM) some months ago to put onto a laptop for a friend and I paid just over £50 if I remember correctly...

Agreed. If Excel isn't a major consideration at this point then Open Office is a great alternative for £0. If/when Excel is a major requirement, then perhaps move on then, but if it's just simple spreadsheets, then Calc is fine. Anything more and Excel leaves it standing... but for now... it's hard to justify more than £0 by the sounds of it.

For the record, drum it into her head that Office 2007 is vastly superior to everything on the market, and by a long way, and the ribbon is only going to become more and more popular in other programs. It's the way forward. :p

I've mentioned Open office, but no, she wants "the proper" way, which in her mind means MS Office 2003, have tried but at the same time I know she knows not much about PC's and leaving her with what she knows will leave me less calls in the future asking how to X Y Z and everything inbetween!

Thanks again!
